Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

I had a similar problem with Mia She was owned - micro chipped etc - but strayed. When she first started visiting us we informed our neighbor but she really wanted her back. I am sure that many will agree, you don't own cats - they own you! A cat will stray for many reasons. In Mia's case it was ano...

Re: Frontline Alert!

I know Frontline do a spray that can be used on young kittens so that might an answer for Mia, just try a very small area first to see if she reacts. I will admit I have memories of spraying and powdering cats from my childhood days and i wouldn't want to go back to it unless there was no other opt...

Re: Poo in garden!

In your place I'd invest £50 or so on a night-vision, motion-sensor camera. (Search Amazon for "camera trap.") Set it up in the garden, it should photograph anything that moves, day or night, and then you would know what animal you're dealing with, which should help decide a course of act...

Re: Frontline Alert!

I think we've been pretty lucky, we've always used Stronghold and never had a problem. My vet knows that I am very sensitive about using pesticides on cats so will need to explore all options. Really need a solution for Mia -just in case - as there is no way we could put a spot on on! We use Panacu...

Re: Frontline Alert!

I agree. My cat has some allergy - which we thought was flea allergy dermatitis so the vet advised monthly treating with Advocate, however, she’s still scratching with Advocate, so it must be something else. I only treat her now every few months just in case it is some flea, but doubt it. It seems ...

Re: Frontline Alert!

Pippin reacted to Advocate from the vet - that was what started it! I went back to Frontline, also from the vet, but I suspect they use the same carrier fluids - after that first reaction he got sore patches from all sorts of things. After our experience with Stealth, and having seen a mild reactio...

Re: Cat litter questions - please share your experience!

In my humble opinion there is only one question to ask - why change? I switched to wood based cat litter when my rescued young lady started scooting (and changed her food to 100% natural too) and simply have not looked back. My second rescue (RIP) also loved it and my 3rd rescue kitten took to it st...

Re: Mia - a new chapter begins

Well it has been over a week since I last posted and put up a short video on YouTube Not a great deal to report really except that Mia is spending far more time indoors and not actually gone out first thing in the morning for at least a week. This seems to have settled Hendrix down quite a bit as he...

Re: Frontline Alert!

We now only use prescription only treatment - Advocate, and we only get it from the vet directly.

It is more expensive that way but not taking any chances with Hendrix

Re: Frontline Alert!

My sadly departed Stealth was treated by the Vet with Frontline and had terrible sores after administration! We are still convinced that it was Frontline that contributed significantly to his death.

I would doubt however if the vet was obtain dodgy supplies??

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

I just got a message from the vet to say that Pauls owner has been located and she is picking him up later. I suppose that is good in many ways but I also assume that your emotions are somewhat torn as well? Perhaps your experience with Paul has given you the opportunity to consider having another ...

Re: Kitten food

Wow, what beautiful kittens ! Both of my rescue cats - one now sadly not with us - benefited greatly from having 100% natural food and grain free. Personally, I would stick to wet cat food as it provides most of the moisture they need. Fresh drinking water should always be available but, I am sure m...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

I would suggest contact Cat's Protection again letting them know what has happened and that you would be willing to have him if the owners can't be contacted, I do see a lot of Cat's Protection Found Cats adverts on Facebook that mention the finder is willing to keep, and I hate to add but they wil...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

Yes, I'd love tattooing brought in over here, especially for females. My local RSPCA opens every female up to check, a lot of unnecessary sedation and stress I think that is terrible! It will cause stress, risk of infection and even loss of life! Far better and cheaper to have mandatory chipping - ...

Re: Mia - a new chapter begins

Wait until she lies there, twitching her tail for him to 'mouse' - mother cat mode :D She may be doing that already! Hendrix has now had many many slaps from Mia but there are absolutely no signs of injuries. I know too well that Mia's claws are like razors and her bite is pretty evil too. I have y...

Re: Mia - a new chapter begins

Where to begin! Mia is now spending a lot more time in the house which is quite significant although we don't actually know exactly why. It could be the weather, It could be that she wants to be closer to us or, it could, be Hendrix Even when Mia is in the house it is quite normal for her to seek sa...

I quite enjoy doing flatpack these days! a lot easier than it used to be and it normally fits properly too!

Are you on twitter? or any other unsociable media thingy?

Unfortunately I can't post them here for some unknown reason - Images have to be tiny and lose their impact.

Re: Mia - a new chapter begins

I am reminded of the way my siamese could keep a whole litter of kittens occupied moving just her tail. She would lie sprawled comfortably by the fire, and twitch just the very tip till all five kittens started to stalk, then whip her tail out of the way at the last moment, let them tumble all over...

Re: Mia - a new chapter begins

OMG a rollercoaster :o This is by no means a rollercoatter. It is a rollercoaster, swings, roundabouts and every white knuckle ride while gorging on candyfloss, toffee apples and hot dogs! Mia is an angel; soft, gentler, sweet, maternal but timid, unsure and emotionally scarred Hendrix is an angel;...

Re: Mia - a new chapter begins

We gave up trying to understand what makes Mia tick a long time ago. Vets and behavior "experts" were continually telling us just leave her alone, "she will probably live in your house but nothing more" We now know that she was about 11 weeks old when her feral mum finally deposi...
