Re: Maya & Tabby
Not sure that we will find out to be honest. Just hope that the Vet will be more vigilant in future. I do know that they have a meeting with the local Rescue Charity and will raise the issue of testing cats for FeLV BEFORE they vaccinate. It is apparently their procedure which I and the vet disagree...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Hi Vivian Thank you, and everyone else for your very kind messages. Mia is exhausted looking for him and is naturally traumatized She does, however, seem closer to us and has slept in the house all day. She knew his was poorly but does not yet seem to understand that he will not be coming home this ...

Re: Maya & Tabby
It is with a very heavy heart that I have to report the tale of Mia and Stealth has come to an end today. Stealth kidney disease was severe and he declined rapidly finally loosing the fight today. Naturally we are all heartbroken as Stealth was such a loving cat who wanted to sit on you lap and be f...

Re: Maya & Tabby
A small update Stealth has had an off week in many respects. He has not been playful and is not eating particularly well. He also seems stressed and is scratching a lot but no signs of fleas or ticks. There has been quite a lot of coming and going and winter has been long this year so we are hoping ...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Just grabbed this image from the "CatCam" - quite surprised how big Mia seems in comparison to Stealth. He weighs 4kgs and is quite thin. Mia certainly has put some weight on since she came to live with us! there was nothing to here when we first found her under a bush in our garden! 15213...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Very sorry for the lack of update. This past 3 months has been hectic with looking after elderly relatives and, of course, being slaves to the cats We continue with our difficult journey with stealth. I finally had a big row with the vets and told them what I thought. Neither cats, in my opinion, ha...

Re: Maya & Tabby
There is a chance of an in house test being false, but with his background, it would be unlikely. Unfortunately most FeLV positive and early stage CKD cats do look healthy, my cat is early stage and was only picked up because I do annual blood tests, although I had a suspicion she had it. When Stea...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Since Stealth was Neutered 3 weeks ago, he has only gone outdoors to his toilet bed and Mia has stayed indoors for the past 10 days. Apart from Mia rubbing and headbutting Stealth at feeding time, there is little contact between the 2. We know that Mia's mum has "health problems" but not s...

Re: Maya & Tabby
From the initial shock and sadness, we have done a lot of reading and are beginning to understand the situation - although there are still many questions to be asked. My first concern is that the vet did not expect us to take Stealth home with us and we still don't understand his position. Stealth h...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Devastating news We started to get concerned about Steal as his recovery from his castration was slow. Although he was eating and drinking very well for first couple of days, this stopped and he became very withdrawn and unresponsive to fusses. Taking him back to the vets he was diagnosed as sufferi...

Awww! :o :D :D :D This is wonderful - congrats! Maya will come round, I'm sure of it. It just takes time. Loads of love and fusses to them both :D When he came and cuddled up to us with a few hours of being neutered, I must admit I shed a tear or two. Typically it is Maya who is uncomfortable at th...

Re: Maya & Tabby
It has been some weeks since I posted an update. Probably a good thing as it would have turned into a book running to several volumes. to cut a very long story short, Maya suddenly decided to sleep in the house at the beginning of October and Stealth moved into Mr Snugs on the same night. Maya progr...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Hi Kay Progress is being made on several fronts but also some things have also changed. I have adopted two cats previously but both were house cats. These 2 are a totally different ball game. As I am sure you are experiencing yourself, adopting stray/feral cats is a totally different challenge and a...

Re: Maya & Tabby
The cat door is now installed. After getting some help in, we installed the cat door last night. Maya would not go though it so left it unlocked. some cheeky Puss came in later and ate the scraps that she had left :( At the 3rd attempt this lunchtime her chip has been recorded so just need to get us...

Emily (avatar cat) my eldest cat, was like Maya at first - slightest movement and she'd fly off. Now I have trouble dislodging her from under my feet - half the time I have to walk through the great soppy lump! She liked to sit on the stairs too when she first started to visit :) It seems to vary f...

Re: Maya & Tabby
my girl doesn't like traditional cat beds either, and often lies on the laminate floor - though she is not averse to sleeping on my down duvet - you have mentioned Maya going on your bed so you might like to consider buying a single duvet for her - they are cheaper than most cat beds, and folding t...

Re: Maya & Tabby
You might need some cooperation from Maya, to program the cat flap chip reader for her. Do you have the instructions? How does it say to do it? With my microchip feeders, I have to get the cat eating from the dish for at least a few seconds, while I press the button that says "memorise this ch...

Re: Maya & Tabby

Maya's visit on Wednesday was not an isolated event and she has continued to come in each night for supper followed by a good clawing session on the scratching post, a nose around then disappears to the ...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Hi Kay I suppose cats used to living outside need to feel safe in whatever nook or cranny they go to sleep in, so maybe that is why she is sticking to that outdoor loo, and why my Tonka will only sleep in the kennel if it faces towards the direction I appear from From what I understand, cats like 2 ...

Hey, that's great news, lots of progress! :D My Finn moved in with me in under a week. I'm not a cat-whisperer. I think it was the bed. He PURRED ... Re: What would you do?
I have got back from a holiday, having employed a cat sitter for 2 visits per day. I hasten to add I have used her twice before. I felt bad enough as my cat is an indoor cat and very nervous, so I was dreading leaving him. Which ever way you look at it, it's a breach of contract and a breach of tru...

Hi Kay that's a very difficult to resist sort of expression he has there, Dave - and he's not that feral if he sits on a windowsill - you're soon going to find yourself the proud owner of two cats if this progress continues and they are a well matched pair - one white with tabby and the other tabby ...
