Re: Wet food, cereal free

Zooplus have Felix cans, too - 6 for £3.99 or 24 for £14.99, but the packs are single flavour, not assorted. You'd need to be confident about them liking a flavour to order 24 of the same!

Re: I like to see others cats

You might consider helping a charity by fostering a cat which is waiting for a home. That way you could see how you get on with a cat in your home, before committing to taking one, or better two, permanently. Hopefully that would convince you to become a cat slave, like us all on here! :) Best of lu...

Re: Cat Litter.

Home Bargains also sell the wood pellets, if you've one nearby, but I'm not sure of the price. Most of their prices are very competitive, but I don't buy it as mine prefer the Fullers earth type. When I provided a tray of each the wood pellets were seldom used, with lots more action in the clumping ...

LittlePenBigHeart says... " Grains are not a normal part of a cat diets. I can't remember the last time I saw a cat hunting down a field of rice. " Well, I don't know where you live, but my cats would have a VERY long way to run before they found a field of rice - thousands of miles I beli...

Re: 13 week kittens

When I first had cats there was no such thing as kitten food. Once weaned they ate cat food, most of which only came in the large 400g tins. At 3 months you could safely offer them cat food. Pate type would be easy for them to eat, especially if they are teething. Lidl and Aldi have it in foil trays...

She's training you, and has obviously read the cat's rule book! As Kay says, we've all been there. Just today I put some food down for my two, and they decided it wasn't what they wanted, so I opened a sachet of something I felt sure they'd like and put a small amount on top of the rejected fo...

Re: bit of food advice

I wouldn't bin the Go Cat that Theo's used to, but I'd mix a little of it in with the new variety that you give him. That way the new food isn't quite such a sudden change, as well as avoiding waste. (My early years were during wartime rationing and the thrifty ways I saw then have stayed with me!) ...

Re: bit of food advice

I don't want to upset you, but Go Cat is a very poor quality food. Something like Purina One Sensitive is much better, easily available and well liked by most cats. If Theo likes it you could buy it more cheaply in bigger quantities online, such as from Zooplus. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/dr...

I'll certainly consider getting one.

Re: Microchip Feeder - Anyone used one?

I wonder if anyone on here has this Argos model? I feed my cats in the kitchen and walk past their bowls frequently, so I presume my movements would have it opening and closing like mad, and running the battery down. Am I right, or can it detect the difference between dainty paws approaching and a l...

Re: Felix AGAIL £20 for 88 x 100g at Pets at Home

I do tend to buy in bulk, and always have a LOT of cat food in the house. I recently bought over 200 pouches of another type when it was on a good offer! My mother often used to say that 'Stock's as good as money', and it was lucky that I'd a good stock last year when I was unexpectedly admitted to ...

Re: Felix AGAIL £20 for 88 x 100g at Pets at Home

Yes, I've bought it from Zooplus, but some people like to shop locally, or want it right away without making up a big order to get it carriage free.
It's slightly cheaper still at Bitiba - £19.49 for 88 sachets, but minimum order for free delivery is £35.

If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest that you seek advice from the Catchat behaviourist. It's a free service; you've nothing to lose.

You may find helpful advice here, too.

Re: Cat Has Fleas

I've had good results with Advantage and would recommend it. I'd suggest spraying with Indorex (cheapest online) to kill the eggs which are likely to be in carpets, upholstered furniture, etc. If you do one room at a time, keeping the door closed and the cats out as advised on the can, until it's sa...

Re: Hi I am new here.

I'd agree with you about letting her come downstairs when she's ready. She obviously feels safe where she is (so long as the window cleaner doesn't come too often!) and will explore further in her own time. I don't see a problem in putting her food in a plastic bowl, but a water bowl is permanently ...

Good to hear that you had a good first night and that the litter tray is being used. Your new arrival is soon making herself at home if she's already enjoying stroking and fussing - well done. I hope all have a peaceful first night together! You mention vet registration - I don't know what choice you have in the area where you live. My two are registered with Vets4Pets and I'm very satisfied with them. You pay for the first vaccination, then you're eligible to join a scheme whereby you pay £99, which covers annual vaccs and a health che...

Re: 4 months in cattery vs long haul trip

You might consider trying to find someone to foster her while you're away. Local charities often use foster homes and you may find one willing to help you in this way, with you paying for her food, litter, etc, and maybe offering a donation towards their charity. Living in a home she'd have more hum...

If she does start to scratch carpets/sofa I'd recommend putting a strip of double-sided sticky tape in that area. They hate the feel of it under their paws, it's very effective, but watch for her to start doing it somewhere else! Fingers crossed that she'll like what you've provided and be a good gi...
