Re: Cat types
Hi Jill I think you have something there! The same thing has certainly happened to dogs over the years. I still have a set of Arthur Mee's 'Children's Encyclopedias' from the early 50's (my dad bought them for me when I was born  ) Some breeds of dog in there are very different to today's 'stan...

Re: Dilemma
I have to agree with the others. I understand the thinking behind their policy (though I don't agree with it) Quite often the first contact shelters/vets have with FIV cats is when they are already ill with something else and there is no one to care for them. We have switched from our local vet (1/2...

Re: I need to vent!!!!
Oooh, it does make me cross the way some people see animals as commodities, possessions to be bought and sold. :x Many people around here are lucky enough to have land to build on and there are some lovely, new, self-build houses here. Many of these households have a dog, cat or both. I am gob-smack...

Re: Battersea Dogs & Cats Home - FIV positive Cats need home
As a 'mummy' to one such cat, PLEASE consider giving a home to an FIV cat. They are NOT ill. You just have to be a little more careful to keep them fit.
I do worry about my boy but that's because he has 3 legs (and he is my sweet-natured baby) not because he's FIV.

Hi Simon, welcome to CC. What a lovely girl you have there. She is lucky to have found you. I think you are doing just fine so far! :) I understand what you mean about keeping her out of the bedroom. Re: Dave....again.
One bad winter we had a stray cat hanging around. We were feeding him but he had no shelter, that we knew of. We made him a cosy bed in our old shed. It had a board removed for access. He was use to us feeding him so we tempted him in to the shelter by showing him the food and then placing it just i...

Re: New foster kittens not toileting
Have you tried helping them along with a cotton wool pad or tissue? When 2 of my kitties were young, I held them over the litter and wiped their botties with a slightly damp pad. It had the desired effect and they soon got use to using the tray. Mine were younger than 11 weeks but it is worth a shot...

Re: Judged for being fertile? Would love to rescue...
What an amazingly silly reason! We have been very lucky our cats found us. But many years ago my husband was turned down by the local dogs home because he was on a main road. Not that he would ever dream of letting the dog anywhere near it. It turned out for the best, by word of mouth he ended up wi...

Ohhh what have I started? You all made me laugh out loud. On the hormone front, a few weeks back I found a very good site full of ladies sharing such tales AND some ideas how to help. I know this is not kitty related but it really tickled me. One lady said she was SO desperate that she would 'drink ...

Oh I am SO pleased I am not alone. You all made me laugh. I'm just having a yoghurt right now and Willow is waiting patiently to lick out the bowl. One of THOSE days!
This morning I was woken up by the sound of retching coming from under the bed. That was Bobby's 'good morning' to me. It's bad at the best of times, but when you are half-asleep and menopausal (hot flushes, not sleeping etc) it was a GREAT start to the day! Feathers are SO indigestible. I cl...

Re: advice on food please.
Oh that's lovely. Sounds like you are making a real friend there. Bobby came in soaking wet this morning and stood very patiently while I toweled him dry, lifting his feet one at a time - which must be hard for a 3 legged cat. He loves having his tummy tickled. If I tried that with the others I'd be...

Hi Nanny Pamy, welcome to CC. You are not alone when it comes to fussy pussies! It's like a kitty restaurant around here - 'what would modom like today'. Yep Jacks is right. You can't go on like this. It is not fair on anyone. Many years back a friend of mine had a large, laid-back Tom cat, Keegan. She took in a small, very nervous girl called Mavis. She got her because other friends had a baby and Mavis had reacted in the same way as your cats. Both...

Hazel, great video clip! Having three legs has not slowed Bobby one bit. It's funny how my 2 'disabled' cats are the best h...

I am so sorry to hear your news. What a terrible shock for you. I can only imagine what you are going through. Re: pooly kitten. does he hate me or isthis a sign he is get
'Mr Frisky' is right. We have raised two cats from tiny kittens. The first one, Willow, was my first ever cat and it was all new to me. We managed to get hold of some kitten formula and a dolly's feeding bottle. That was 11 years ago - now most pet stores have feeding bottles. Willow and Bobby would...

This is all good stuff! Teasel is a very pretty cat and what lovely big eyes she has. I have been following your progress with great interest and am so pleased for you both. Welcome to CC. Sorry to hear about Jester. Just a thought, if he is hanging around his old home but won't go in, would he come to strangers (the new folks) if they had food for him? He must be very hungry by now. If he is too timid to come to strangers perhaps the vet that your sister used could loa...
