Re: Health insurance with dental cover - any leads please?

You would need to look at each policy. One of my policies won't cover routine dental treatment (wear and tear) but covered extractions that were caused by an oral virus but I know some won't.

Re: Cheyenne going AWOL

Really pleased to read your updates and that you and Cheyenne have found a compromise that will hopefully work for you both, she sounds pretty happy with the new arrangement, it must have been a treat to see her stretched out and relaxed on her new rug. I agree with the others in that I would contin...

Re: 2 Older Cats Fighting since new kittens have arrived....

It does sound like Tilly is unsure of her standing in the hierarchy and is trying to assert herself over Coco, unless they are full on fighting I would try and leave them to sort this out themselves, only intervene if it looks like things are getting out of hand.

Re: Cat has allergies, don't know what to do

I think I'd try changing her food to a totally cereal free (and fish) diet and see if that improves things. Don't assume because they're sensitive or prescription diets she won't still be allergic to them. I know we've spoken about this before but have you tried Piriton? This stopped Hector scratchi...

Re: Cheyenne going AWOL

Can you not accept that this is how she wants to live, she's obviously a very scared girl but she does come back on occasions so knows that she has a safe place at your house if she needs it and whilst she may never be a lap cat or even one you can pet what would be the alternative for her? She'll b...

Re: URGENT home required for 10yr old tabby, Nth Notts/S.Yor

It's worth arguing your case with your landlord, my landlord said no to my two original cats but my letting agents actually argued my case for me. I paid a slightly higher deposit and agreed to correct any damage they caused when I left plus have the carpets cleaned and flea treated. It's always wor...

If you add some white vinegar to the biological washing powder and scrub like crazy that should break down the enzymes and get rid of any smell. Your house might smell like the chippy for a couple of days!

Have you tried Rushden Persian Rescue, they're in Nottingham somewhere but he looks like the sort of cat they might be able to rehome.

Have you tried Cat Cuddles: http://www.catcuddles.org.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, they sometimes take cats on a short term foster basis to help them fund their rescue.

If you have to go down the paying route what about using a pet sitter type person? Probably be cheaper than a vet home visit. Although I'm way down south I know the pet sitter I use will do other pet related requests.

Re: Black stuff around cat's mouth

Cats have facial scent glands which they use to mark their territory. They secrete a black, waxy substance which you can sometimes find on door frames, table legs etc where they've been rubbing their face. Could be something to do with that, although you don't normally see on them, just on what they...

I watched this too. Great to see a vet with so much compassion and empathy, I loved the way he got down on the floor with Bacchus to give him a good cuddle when he showed him how well he could walk.

Re: Kitten, 3 mo, inconsistant pinkish mucus in stools - Hel

Are you feeding her the same as she had in the rescue? Kittens digestive systems are very sensitive and easy to upset so it may be a change in diet has started it off. Has she been wormed? A lot of cats don't drink much, one of my cats I never see drink so as long as she has plenty of access to wate...

Re: Advice needed - respiratory infection/laryngitis/vomitin

Good advice from Lilynmitz, just trust your vet. Keep giving the chicken little and often, chicken is very gentle on the stomach and in small quantities hopefully she'll be able to keep it down. The AB's they give work wonders so I'm sure you'll start to notice a difference in her. Have you checked ...

Re: how long should i keep new cata in bonding room

Are there are other cats in the house? If not I'd crack on and start introducing them to the rest of the house. If there are other cats I'd start with intros, in my experience the quicker you start this stage the easier it is to integrate them.

Re: Low white cell count

I would try and get some water into Tips by syringe if you can, just a few squirts throughout the day should help enormously. It might be too much trying to get the food in as well but perhaps just try a little, when I asked the vet which was more important of the two she said water if you can't get...

Re: Low white cell count

A couple of months ago we had a tummy bug go round and it hit three of my four, it took about a week to go through their systems and it was pretty grim being on litter tray duty, they were off their food during this time too. The vet gave me Pro-Bind which I think is the same as Pro-Kolin, it really...

I would starting weaning her down to two meals a day now. Has she been wormed recently? I'd also keep a food diary to see if it's a particular food she's sick after eating.

Perhaps you could do a combination of time without a coat/jumper and time with so she can still groom herself but has the warmth too for the remaining time. Another item you could think about is a hot water bottle wrapped in an old towel or blanket (or Snugglesafe if you don't mind splashing out a b...

Re: Low white cell count

Pleased to hear Henry was a bit brighter when you visited.

I'm sure if it comes to it they'll syringe feed him, they could also give him an appetite stimulant which worked wonders for Hector and really got his appetite moving again when he had bad cat flu.

All paws crossed for him x
