Flying cat food.
You know that thing you do before opening a cat food pouch? You grasp it by the top and shake it down, yes. Well, yesterday I did that just a bit too vigorously and to mine and Dave's astonishment, the pouch ripped open mid shake and went winging over my head and across the kitchen. :o It seemed to ...

Warm weather and eating.
Does anyone else notice their cat eats less in warm/hot weather? My Dave is having a lovely time basking in the sun at the moment. However, he comes in, asks for his food, sniffs it, licks some of the gravy, eats a little then mooches off outside again. He seems ok otherwise, but I wondered ...

Re: Rescue cat - advice needed
I agree with Kay re food. When I rescued my Dave, (who'd been living rough in my nieces garden) he was always asking for food. Nearly two years down the line, and he's not so bad now. As for the spraying, again I agree with Kay. He's marking his new territory to warn other cats there's a new cat on ...

Hi there, Mystical vamp.
Here is a site which may help you. It gives a lot of good advice on how to teach your cat not to steal food.
According to them, its all to do with the hunting instinct.
Good luck.

De clawed!!! How horrible. Poor little thing is probably traumatised.
Such an unnecessary and cruel practice which is rightly banned in the UK.

Hi Anna, and welcome. I've never had to do this myself, but here is a site that may help with introducing mum cat to your dog. Someone with experience will no doubt give you more advice based on their own experience. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Best wishes, Grace http://www.woodgreen.org....

Re: stressed cat spraying
If a UTI has been ruled out, then it's most probably stress related. Any thing could trigger the spraying; new furniture, a change in routine, strangers in the house like workmen etc. And of course, other neighbourhood cats 'tormenting' yours and encroaching on your cats territory. Best to try and w...

Re: How successful are IV drips for cats with kidney disease?
When my Oscar became very ill with kidney failure, I had him put on a drip. Unfortunately, he died in the night.
The vet did give me the option of having him pts but I wanted to give him a chance however slight.
I wouldn't make that mistake again.

What a beautiful cat.
My Dave was a stray and his left eye is like that as well. It doesn't bother him one jot and he can hunt and do all the usual 'catty' things despite his dodgy eye.

I agree with all of the above. Toothache is horrible for humans, imagine how much worse for a poor animal who can't take painkillers (and they don't always work )
The vet knows what he's doing and will take into account your cats age regarding anaesthetic.

If she's been displaying the signs of 'calling' and she's been outside, chances are she could be 'up the duffers'. Have you noticed any toms taking up residence in the garden? Not all owners are as diligent in having males neutered unfortunately. Best get her to the vet who'll be able to tell you on...

Re: My cat keep bringing in Rats dead and alive.
My Dave catches rats and he's very good at it. As I love all animals, rats included, I would rather they die in the jaws of a natural predator than be slowly poisoned and suffer. It's what cats do I'm afraid. You cannot stop them nor suppress their natural instincts. I thank Dave for his contributio...

Hi alanc and thanks for reply. Well, according to the weather forecast, we could have some more thunder today. It certainly feels like it as its quite humid and sunny after rain. Cats fear of storms.
Late last night, we had a thunder storm in Norwich. I was thrilled as I love them. But.....Dave was not. It's the first time that I've been with him during a storm and I was a bit shocked at his reaction. He hid behind the sofa, and when he did emerge, he seemed very uneasy. And when we went up to b...

Re: Cat in the post.
I mean, didn't the cat struggle when the box was sealed up, or when they took it to the post or whatever. And surely the sorting office/carriers must have heard the poor thing meowing. No, I think that the RSPCA or Cats Protection should investigate this. I reckon it was done deliberately for what s...

Did anyone read this? How on earth do you 'accidently' seal a cat up in a box and not know it's there?
Something fishy about it if you ask me. Thankfully, the poor thing survived.

Re: Do cats eat Hamsters?
Cats are predators so of course they would kill and probably eat the Hamsters if they caught them.
It would be very unfair for both cats and Hamsters to have them living in close proximity to each other.

Re: HELP 9/10 month old male rescue cat 'attacking' daughter
The thing you must remember when spraying water at the cat to stop bad habits is....don't let him see it's you doing it. He must associate the sudden jet of water with what he's doing, not with you. Because, as you've seen, he is now scared of, and associates it with you. As to his attacks on your d...

Hi Meriad. Its a south facing courtyard. But there is a honeysuckle bush that he tends to sit near. However, I am thinking I'll have to build a little 'green' bushy shelter for him for the sunnier days.....if we get any.
Thanks, hun.

I kept my rescue cat in for about two months before allowing him out. I used to carry him to the open door so he could see what was there and sniff the air. Then I let him out for gradually longer with me in attendance. You should have seen me trying to cover all bases (escape routes) on my own with...

I was wondering which sunblock I can use for Dave who loves to bask in the sun. He only really needs it on his nose.
Can I use 'human' products, or does it have to be a special vet' prescribed one?
Thanks all.

Thank you for the replies, everyone. I have tried to post a photo, but it keeps saying the file is too big. :? The little spot is pinkish red and under the nose skin.
