Re: First time rehoming a cat - a little overwhelmed HELP
the litter I use comes in kg rather than ml, and I use a 6kg bag for a very large enclosed tray shared by my two cats - when more than one cat is using the tray morel litter is needed so they can avoid each other's clumps - but deeper does make wee clumps less likely to stick to the sides or bottom...

Re: First time rehoming a cat - a little overwhelmed HELP
My only issue is that its harder to see what I need to scoop out so I find I have to spend more time scooping Hi again - when you're doing the wees, try shaking the tray gently or tipping it slightly from end to end; the clean litter tends to spring away from the clumps and then you can see where t...

Re: Best Pet insurers for FIV+ cats
But I will warn you that the phrase 'anything FIV+ related' can mean anything from a broken claw to alien abduction! LMAO! I was told pet insurance is beneficial/recommended - but now Im thinking that they could argue that any reason I have to take him to the vet is due to his FIV  Now Im thi...

Re: First time rehoming a cat - a little overwhelmed HELP
Is there anything extremely valuable that you learnt regarding Bobbys health/care (outside of ensuring I keep him healthy)? Sorry I have not got back to you - been a bit hectic here over the last few days! Bob has the most fabulous set of gnashers which he shows off everytime he yawns (never seen a...

Best Pet insurers for FIV+ cats
So I rehomed King Tobias Warrior just over a week ago and got a months free pet insurance with PetPlan via Cats Protection. I then get a text saying I can get another months free so I called them up to enquire further. Prices seem to be reasonable*, but then he put me thru to his colleague who tells...

Re: Best ways to trim a cats nails and then wash/bathe them?
I really would advise getting a nurse to show you the first time. If you cut them too short, you will cut into nerves, which will be very painful and will bleed. I have trimmed a bit off the tip of claws of my elderly cats, but the nurses do a much better job. I think I was charged £8 Thank you so ...

Re: Raw diet for FIV cats? Yea or neh?
Because I have six or seven cats here usually and they all seem to like something different, but all get fed the same at each meal, they get a mixture of cheap and premium brands, both tinned and pouches, half wet and half dry, and plain cooked chicken or fish a couple of times a week. I used to gi...

Re: Best ways to trim a cats nails and then wash/bathe them?
personally I wouldn't try to wash him - pet wipes should remove the source of the offending smell, and as they are used in a stroking motion he should be fine with you using them to cut the front claws, I have found the scissor type clippers easy to use - if you get him when he's sleepy and somewhe...

Re: Raw diet for FIV cats? Yea or neh?
I feed a huge variety of stuff as I, personally, believe that that's how balance is achieved. Cats naturally eat live prey which includes bones and all and gives them exactly what they need - a 'complete' food mimics that full range of vitamins and minerals. Just meat on its own, even raw, would no...

Best ways to trim a cats nails and then wash/bathe them?
Tobias' fur smells of poo. When I took him to get his 2nd vac. today, the vet could smell it too and thought he'd done a poo in the carrier  I really want to wash him but Im so nervous. I have yet to trim his nails but I intend to - God knows how! Its difficult for me because I live alone so I ...

Raw diet for FIV cats? Yea or neh?
I need to order some more food for King Tobias Warrior. Hes been here for a week now and so far Ive been feeding him Bozita Chunks Chicken and Gravy (it has the highest % in meat) but Ive just realised its a raw diet which some people say are okay for FIV+ cats and some others state otherwise. Pets ...

Re: I think my cat is spooked from my washing machine
Thanks for the replies/good points. So, to make a long story short, I put the washing machine on again then he slept on my lap. When the spin came on, he jumped up and looked, but within seconds he went back to sleep!!! He did this several times but clearly he felt safe on mummys lap with the noise ...

Re: I think my cat is spooked from my washing machine
Hi. When I first adopted Denver, he was also spooked out by the washing machine - I used to have a very very old model which was very noisy. He'd always been frightened of noise - his old owners (my former next door neighbours) used to have the most awful shouting matches and it made him spook very...

I think my cat is spooked from my washing machine
Hes only been here less then a week and has settled in so well! Re: Cats in flats
The general consensus is that if you work M-F or are out the house alot, its good to get two kittens so they have someone to play with and in turn, they wont revert to taking out their playfulness on your couch/curtains haha. I visited a no of different rescue centres and played with cats of all age...

Re: First time rehoming a cat - a little overwhelmed HELP
In most ways he IS a normal cat. You just have to accept that his immune system is not what it should be and do your best to keep him healthy. :) Absolutely! Thats why I said "normal" haha! He felt a lot stronger then the other "normal" cats I looked at. I can see he truly is a ...

Re: Cats in flats
I totally hear you about not giving them a chance but tbh, there are some cats which dont like the big outdoors so its best that you try to get an indoor cat. Take your time finding one - it took me way over 5 visits to different shelters and weeks of looking online/sending messages to find King Tob...

Re: First time rehoming a cat - a little overwhelmed HELP
@Bobbys Girl I adopted him from Pets Protection in East Midlands. They had him in shelter for 2 weeks before I adopted him and were feeding him Purina One biscuits in the morning and Felix/whiskers wet food in the afternoon. The results from my thorough research concluded that these are not the best...

First time rehoming a cat - a little overwhelmed HELP
Ive been reading a heck of a lot on this site over the past few weeks in anticipation for rehoming my boy but decided to join as I have a few pressing questions. I adopted a 1 year old FIV+ BSH on Wed 16th of this month  . This is the first time Ive ever owned a cat! Ive been doing ALOT of ...
