Could they be polyps? I know you can get them in the ears and nose, I think you can also get them in the nasopharynx which isn't far from the throat....

I think you should take her to the vet, Pica (a condition where cats eat plastic type substances) can be (but not always) a sign of an underlying health condition and should always be checked out.

Don't forget you're not seeing him at his best, despite the best efforts of the rescue he's obviously finding life in there very stressful and who knows what will happen when he's in a home of his own... Good on you for considering giving this lad a chance

Have you tried warming his food? A few seconds in the microwave or add some warm water, it helps release the smell. Have you tried anything like pilchards or other smelly fish? It sounds like he's heading in the right direction, sleeping is good, he's probably been feeling lousy so plenty of rest is...

Pip is quite anxious too, someone rang the doorbell earlier which sent her scrambling to get upstairs, there's a bit of noise from the road which is making her twitchy and on edge. It doesn't go on too late so hopefully not much longer to go.

It does sound like a fear aggression related to the garden, you may have to take the treats outside to try and reinforce its not a bad place, maybe some play too with something like Da Bird to distract her? I can't think what else it could be if there are no other animals around to upset her.

How many litter trays have you got? The general rule is one per cat plus one extra, so if you have just one might be worth trying a couple more.

It is a real worry but I'm glad she's perked up whatever the reason and keep everything crossed that it continues. Gut problems are such a nightmare to get on top of, I hope you don't have to go down the biopsy route x

It could be redirected aggression, he could be in pain or he could just be associating your hand with the fear of being put in his carrier and taken to the vet.

I totally agree with Kay, cats are very clean animals and messing outside of a tray is normally health or behaviour related, he sounds like he's quite stressed so I'm sure in a calm house with no competition he'll settle. I would be inclined to have two trays in different locations so he can choose ...

I haven't used this on my own cats (no need) but I've heard from another forum that a tangle teezer brush works really well, they're quite gentle and most cats really enjoy being brushed with them. It's a human brush and I think you can buy them in places like Boots.

I'd also be inclined to get a second opinion, there's so many other things it could be, I wouldn't be jumping to the skin cancer conclusion at this stage. Have they done a skin scrape to check mites, ringworm etc?

It could also be a food allergy, it might be worth trying an elimination diet with her.
