Re: Help! Noisy kitten problem!!

I can only agree with the others - he's little and lonely at night. He probably will settle down eventually but it might take a while. To be honest, I think I'd try not to worry about the neighbours too much - I can't imagine they can hear that much and if they say anything again tell them you're go...

Re: Some advice please?

In my limited experience with cystitis putting extra water in the food, cutting out dry food and a maintenance dose of something such as cystease really helps long term. Also, and something that vets don't look at straight away, is that urinary problems are sometimes associated with the cat experien...

Re: Help help help please! Cat and kitten fighting/playing??

I might be wrong but if they aren't growling or hissing and fluffing themselves up to look agressive then they are probably playing. Some of it is probably trying to assert dominance on one another but you might need to let them sort themselves out. Perhaps make sure that Milo (resident) cat has som...

Re: Odd Bathroom Behaviour

Perhaps some soil from the garden or from a bag of compost in the litter tray might help? We had a similiar problem with my childhood cat (Muffin RIP) - he was attacked by a dog and after he recovered he would always mess on a rug - never the tray. THis was over 20 years ago and we didn't know any b...

Some people have had success with Rescue Remedy too:

Re: 4 year old cat and new anxiety

Actually I disagree that another cat will help - it might but integrating cats isn't always straight forward and it might make Pandora even more unhappy. It sounds like she's a bit stressed to me - it looks like there is some Siamese/Oriental breeding in her and they can tend to be a bit highly stru...

Re: Pregnant stray

We took in a stray a couple of years ago and before she was spayed we kept her safe in one room whilst our 2 cats had the run of the house. I let her out of her safe room twice so she could explore the house and she pooed on the living room carpet both times. I suspect it was her way of spreading he...

Oh dear Joe - that meowing isn't at the spider, it's at YOU! She's saying "Dad! Quick - pick me up to catch the beastie!!" My partner has been known to fetch a kitchen chair so that he can stand on it lifting Bagheera up to the ceiling so she can catch spiders. In his underwear

Re: How to ensure "indoor' cats are happy?

Hi there, we have three cats and before we came to Portugal we lived in the countryside in Devon - our cats could roam (almost) freely and in fact 2 of them were born on the farm next door to us. We knew that we when we brought them with us to Portual circumstances would mean they'd have to change t...

I think I'd be tempted to block the flap at nights once she's home so that she can rest assured that no-one's coming in and also it's safer for her to be indoors at night. Good for her though that she's managed to re-establish her territory!

That's great - what a good boy he was!! I travelled with my three cats in the car from the UK to Portugal in 2012. They hate the car so I was dreading it. It took us about 2.5 days and they were as good as gold until about half an hour before we were due to arrive - at that point Bagheera found her ...

I don't have any experience but I believe Orientals can be very intelligent which can come across as being rather 'full on' as they needs lots and lots of stimulation. Perhaps contact one of the Oriental breeding clubs to see if they have any advice on his behaviour and how best to stimulate him? He...

Would you collect your cat from the vet and expect to be given time to pay? Would you go to the hairdresser and expect to be given time to pay? I hope this cattery, which is probably a small business being run from someone's home, has the means to defend themselves "legally" from this stup...

Is he on any medication for stress? By the sounds of how many occurences he's had I'm sure when he has to visit the tray it's going to stress him a little? Whilst I don't think its great for the person to have responded like this it could have been worse - I'm sure we've all heard about horrible people who tear down the 'missing' posters or deface them or worse? This person has at least tried to be sensible about saying the posters shouldn't be left up...

Two of mine can be a bit like this - Elsie seems to think its great fun to chase Bagheera or to pinch her favourite sleeping places so Bagheera rarely comes into the living room. I have to bribe her in with treats and then set up a sleeping spot for her and make sure Elsie doesn't push her off it ag...

Personally I would keep them in one room for longer than a day. When we moved (from the UK to Portugal) I kept them in the bedroom at the new house whilst we were moving our stuff in - then I thought the following day it would be ok for them to see the rest of the house but they were terrified and j...

Yes I think whilst it's probably not how you hoped it could have been worse. I've got 3 cats and the last one of ours, Elsie, moved in with us around 3 years ago but Bagheera - the original resident cat - still isn't 100% keen on her and tolerates her at best. If the older cat isn't being too hostil...

To be honest I think I'd pop him along to the vets for a check-up. I know when mine have been under the weather the only way I've been able to tell is because they just want to sleep and don't show much interest in anything else. There might be a slight infection from the operation - or whatever he ...
