Re: Feeling terrible - tormented my cat and not helped him :

I sympathise, neither of mine are keen on the carrier! Luckily they both tolerate being picked up, but once they decide they want to get down that's it! Claws away! Our older cat also gets very anxious if we stroke or handle her with 2 hands; she was from a house with 11 cats so I don't think she wa...

Re: long claws problem. advice please.

How long is too long for claws? On both of my cats when they are relaxed, you can just see the tip of the claw in their fur which I guess is normal? Our baby Kevin has 1 or 2 on his back right paw which are a few mm longer, he's still an indoor cat will he bite these off himself or should I trim? I'...

Re: Bath obsession!

Thanks! I'd not thought about the warmth, but he did lay down straight away so you may be right! He obviously doesn't mind getting wet as he's got a water fountain in the kitchen that he loves splashing in and flicking water everywhere! The water temperature comments are reassuring. I'm not going to...

Bath obsession!

Our 6 month old kitten Kevin has a new obsession...the bath! So far he's only been in it while it's empty, although my husband had to remove him from a precarious perch while I was in it tonight! He loves the bubbles and the water, but I'm really scared it might scald him if he fell in. Even weirder...

Re: Molly hates flea day!

We call Kevin our kitten Mouse a lot as he was so tiny when we got him.

He's not bothered at all in comparison to Molly. She's just funny with medicine in general, a drop of anything in her food and she knows about it! Is the flea stuff as effective if it doesn't go on the skin directly?

Re: He really wants to go out!

Unfortunately we live in a terraced house so it would be impossible to completely cat proof the garden as neighbours may always leave the gates open etc. It is a pretty busy road into our village. The only thing we could do would be to gate off the alleyway, but we'd need the ok from the houses eith...

Molly hates flea day!

Our cat Molly detests flea treatment day. We used to try to distract her with food and put the treatment on quickly, but this time we've had to resort to trying to hold her which she doesn't like. She squirms as soon as we part the fur on her neck as she knows what's coming, and spends the next 10 m...

He really wants to go out!

My kitty really wants to go out! We have an older cat Molly who goes out whenever she wants. Our kitten Kevin will be 7 months old on 23rd Feb. Molly is a little scaredy cat, and is scared of everything. She doesn't roam further than a garden or 2 either side of us and only goes out for half an hour...

Re: hyperactive after anaesthetic

I completely agree about the importance of dental checks. My childhood cat Smudge suddenly stopped eating and lost quite a lot of weight. Mum and dad (Id moved out by that point) tried changing his food, the vet felt his stomach etc. My parents were really worried he wouldn't pull through, but when ...

Re: Help - how can we get rid of the litter box?

We use wood pellet litter too as we find it hides odours better. However our kitten Kevin's favourite game is flicking litter out of the box and chasing it around!! We're constantly picking it up in the kitchen, very annoying! Ours both 'go' overnight though so I'd definitely keep the tray and hide ...

The humidifier etc option does seem a little much for me, also my 2 hate being brushed/combed. Molly just wriggles away and Kevin tries to eat the brush.

Re: slightly worried!!!!!!!!

You can get them cheapest on eBay or zooplus, but pets at home sell them too. You can get a spray too but I think that's more for travelling. We use one upstairs and one downstairs, it's really made a difference to our eldest Molly. When we got her she was scared of literally everything. She wouldn'...

Re: slightly worried!!!!!!!!

Poor things. So they've probably had a pretty traumatic time. Placing your boyfriends scent in the house will help them get used to him. When he's there maybe get him to do all the feeding/litter changing etc so they know they can rely on him. Feliway are really good for reducing stress and anxiety,...

Re: slightly worried!!!!!!!!

You don't mention how old the cats are, but I presume they've had previous owners? Perhaps they had a bad experience with a man. When I was growing up we adopted a mother cat and her kitten; the mother was terrified of my dad for at least a year, but with perseverance she came around. Our oldest cat...

Static cat!!

Molly and Kevin seem to be full of static at the moment. I'm sure it's the cold weather as my hair does the same in winter. I just wondered whether anyone has any tips for removing the static as I keep getting shocks from them which obviously neither of us enjoy. With my hair I use a tumble dryer sh...

Re: Is my baby girl a Bombay?

That's really interesting! I always wondered why Molly had a more pointed face than Kevin, who has a distinct forehead then nose bumping out almost more like a humans would, Molly's nose seems to come straight out from just above her eyes. I will have a good look at their eyes tonight, but I remembe...

We got Molly from an animal rescue place too. When we first got her she would wolf down 4-5 pouches a day!! Plus a few biscuits too. She was underweight so it wasn't a huge issue until she got up to her goal weight. We found that after a month or 2 she relaxed with her eating; we can only presume th...

Re: Is my baby girl a Bombay?

She really is a beautiful girl, she's so gentle. She's never scratched or bitten us, even when we first got her and she was a big scaredy cat. She's so clever, she's got her looks down to a tee; there's the 'it wasn't me mum I promise' look, the 'what are you up to, can I join in?' Look and she has ...

Is my baby girl a Bombay?

Hi all, I've posted loads about our special girl Molly. We don't know anything about her history other than it wasn't pleasant. But I've put several photos up, and a lot of people have commented on her eyes. I've looked online and I'm wondering if she's at least part UK Bombay? She seems to have the...
