Re: Repeat runaway cat - help!

I'm sorry I've no useful advice about your problem, but here's a link for you to email the catchat behaviourist, who can be contacted free of charge, and may have some useful suggestions for you..... behaviour@catchat.org Would it be possible to secure your garden, so he can go outside but not roam?...

Re: Toileting problem, advice please :-)

The DIY box would certainly be effective, but looks to be quite high to get into, and I've never seen boxes like that here in the UK, though others may know where to find them. When I'd a similar problem with a previous cat I bought a large plastic storage box - the sort sold for under bed storage, ...

Re: Put elderly cat in cattery for 15 days?

Does time allow for her to have just one night in the cattery, as a trial, and to let her see that she does come back home after being there?

Staying at home would be better, of course, if you can make arrangements you'd be comfortable about.

If there are any smaller, local rescue groups in your area you may find that they are more flexible. I know of groups in my area which use foster homes in the way you have in mind, so don't give up.

Re: Cat litter

I should have mentioned earlier that the Aldi litter at £1.55 is a slightly smaller bag - 8 litres, than the Lidl which is 10kg - confusing when different units are used.

Re: Cat litter

Ria - mine are both Ragdolls, so are long haired, but I've never seen any bits of litter stuck in their fur, and I'm here most of the time. I did put a tray of wood pellets out for a while, some years ago, which they'd used before they came to me, but they ignored it, always using the tray with clum...

Re: Cat litter

I also like clumping litter, and am very happy with Lidl's own brand, on offer at the moment at £1.55 for a 10kg bag (usually £1.79). Aldi's is very similar, and the cats happily use either.

Re: Cat near me with ear problem

Well done for trying to help this poor cat. If you don't get any help from the big charities, and I hope you do, then if there are any small animal charities in your area you may find them more helpful than the big ones. In some areas that seems to be the case. If you can get the cat to a vet they'd...

Re: Claws and carpet!

Strips of double sided tape are usually very effective, as cats hate the sticky feel when their paws touch it. I've used it a number of times, often at the bottom of the stairs, like your problem area, for various cats and it's always worked. It's well worth trying. Best of luck - hope you sort it b...

No problem with the dates on the Purina, Mark, as Desley says. Mine is dated for use by July2018, so at the rate you get through it it's not going to last so long.

I'm puzzled - I had an email nearly 2 weeks ago from Zooplus offering the Purina One at £6.99 for 3kg, implying that it was only for a few days, so I ordered some and that's what I paid. I assumed that all of us on here who use Zooplus would get the same email, so didn't post it. I've just checked a...

Re: IAMS

I think you were lucky to be shopping yesterday, Mark. There's no 750g bags showing up now on Sainsbury's website, but 800g size is £4.50. I wonder if they were changing pack size, so reduced the older stock. Over 20 years ago I used to buy Iams, under the impression that it was a good food, but sto...

Re: watery under right eye of my cat

I've had two cats with a watery eye that's looked just like your cat's, (both the right eye, too) and in both cases the vets have said that it's nothing to be concerned about - just a leaky tear duct. I've just wiped their faces with a tissue when needed. Hopefully yours won't be any more serious. C...

Re: What do you feed your old cat?

For cheap chicken or fish I'd suggest you try Farmfoods, if there's a branch near you. At the moment you can get 2kg frozen chicken breasts for £5. Chicken legs are cheaper, of course. I get frozen pollock there, too, (and sometimes from Lidl) which my cats love - poached in water, which I do in the ...

Re: New cat causing havoc at neigbours' property

This Australian product seems to be a good idea to keep cats in their own garden, and intruders out, but I'm not aware of anything similar in the UK - until someone copies/develops the idea.

Re: How long should Scratching Posts last?

If it's just a case of frayed ropes you might consider buying a coil of sisal rope, from somewhere such as Screwfix, to replace the rope. A staple gun, or 'U' shaped staples hammered in, will secure each end of the rope in place - not quite as pretty as when new, but much cheaper, and the cats don't...

Thanks Ria I've ticked the 'remember me' box several times, in case it worked, though I was really under the impression that it was an offer to help recall one's password, and user name after typing the first letter, rather than to stay logged in. At one time the option marked 'Stay logged in' was a...

I've no problem logging in, but I used to stay logged in and I can't find that option any more. I'm not sure if that's because the website has removed that option, or that I'm having an all too frequent 'Senior moment' and just can't find it.

I'd never thought of buying the cans of Morrisons pate until I read some of the posts on here, but I got a pack today as my two like the pate type of food. I've only opened one can so far and it's been well received - hope it's not just novelty value. At least it stops them licking the jelly and lea...

Yes, the Lidl Premium pouches in jelly are the ones often recommended on here (£1.99 for 12 x 100g). They're not as plentiful as the gravy ones, so you may have to hunt under the top layer of boxes to find them! Some of us stock up on them when we do find them. Markb recently mentioned some pouches ...

Hello Marie

It would be very helpful if you can explain just where on his body the wound is, so that we can suggest what can be done to protect it. A photo would be even better if that is possible.
