Re: Abandoned Kitten Manchester near Worsley
Oh my goodness, he's gorgeous! How do you know he's abandoned and not simply lost? Have you checked whether he's neutered and chipped? If introductions went OK, would you keep him? Some info on introductions and hierarchies here: http://www.catchat.org/hierarchies.html" onclick="window.ope...

Re: vomited antibiotic did it have time to work
Out of hours, our vet practice still forwards to a duty vet so it's worthy trying. However, I think a cat's digestion is pretty quick.
What antibiotic is it and what is it for?

Re: Tilly is very quiet, hiding and not eating
jillyvillyvoo, how lovely that you adopted an FIV+ cat! Regarding Convenia, a cat's health condition would be different each time, so I don't know if you could assume that if they had Convenia once and were OK then they will be fine another time. All of our cats are happy to take antibiotic tablets ...

Re: Tilly is very quiet, hiding and not eating
jillyvillyvoo, if your cat needs antibiotics and you're able to pill them, then there's no need to risk a long-lasting antibiotic which stays in the cat system and could cause a very serious - even fatal - reaction. Here are two sites which explain the potential issues: http://catinfo.org/?link=conv...

If she requires an antibiotic, make sure it's in tablet form, not a long-lasting injection which can have very serious side effects.

Re: Tilly is very quiet, hiding and not eating
I disagree and would take her to the vets today. It sounds like she may have an infection of some kind. Cats can go downhill very quickly and it's better to take her in today than over the weekend when you'll have to pay emergency rates. Also, a cat can't go very long without eating without damaging...

That cattery looks and sounds very good. If it were me, I'd choose that over allowing her outside 24 hours a day while I was gone. Then you can relax and enjoy your holiday.

Re: going away for two weeks, worried about my sofina
Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable with a stranger staying in my house. That's just me - not very trusting! So I would opt for a cattery or professional cat sitter. If you choose a cat sitter, I would make sure they visit at least twice a day, lock Sofina in at night (since she is normally in at ...

Re: Fostering adult cats
Have you tried Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue in Wincanton? Do you mean fostering with a view to adopting? Otherwise, if the cat you're fostering gets adopted by someone else then it could be very sad for your girls. I think some rescues allow you to adopt with the provision that they'll take the...

Teddy was pooing in the tray and weeing on carpet.
How many trays do you have? I'd suggest having at least 3.

Have you every tried Meowing Heads wet cat food? It's really high in meat content, smells fantastic and all of our cats love it whereas they don't like most other foods.

Re: Oh dear trouble with Thomas alas....
If they snuggle up together, I think they'd miss each other. It's good that you're having Thomas checked by the vet. When we adopted Teddy and got him neutered, he sprayed only twice but did wee a few times on the carpet. He didn't like the Catsan litter the others were using, so adding 2 trays of S...

Our Flo and Rosie (sisters) both have hyperthyroidism. Flo was losing weight and drinking lots of water. Rosie hadn't lost weight but was drinking lots of water. Neither had an elevated heart rate or any other symptoms. Both were eating a lot, though, unlike Kylie. Hugs to you and Kylie. It's so dif...

Has Kylie been tested for hyperthyroidism? She's that age and diarrhea is one of the symptoms.

We have two 18 year old girls, Rosie and Flo. They were both diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and then CKD about two years ago for which they're receiving treatment. They both have arthritis and take Yumove Cat for that which has really made a big difference. They sleep a lot, but still enjoy mealtime...

We're in exactly the same situation with Timmy. He's very fluffy and (unlike our other cats) hates being groomed. So we didn't persevere and now he's matted in the same place. Today we're going to try the suggestions in the "best answer" below and if that doesn't work then take him to the ...

Ragdolls are often kept as indoor cats aren't they? So the ragdoll rescues might be fine with that. I'd look for a cat that's has always been an indoor cat and is happy with that.
