Re: Cat with kittens behavoir

Are you sure all the kittens have been born? Just a thought that there may be another. I've had 2 cats give birth many years ago - one in our bed when I delivered one baby which was stuck and then that one gave birth under the sink a couple of years later. I don't remember either having the strange ...

Re: At my wits end - do I have my 7 year old put to sleep?

Unfortunately I also have no experience of this - poor Teddy is so young to be going through this. If he's in distress with his breathing I would be inclined to have the drain done even if it's just to ease him while you try to figure out the next course of action. If it's any help my parents had a ...

Re: Cheyenne still nervous

I agree - if she didn't want to be there she would've left so don't beat yourself up too much as she obviously feels that this is her home. It may be that she's had a bad experience with men so it could take a long time to gain her trust completely. Over the years (a lot of them!!) I've found that c...

Re: Cheyenne still nervous

Hi - I was just wondering if you have tried playing with her with either a stick and string or maybe a laser beam (be careful of her eyes!). Also with a huge amount of patience a spoon of tuna or her favourite biscuits? I have a stray who will come in and sleep and feed but after having to catch him...

Re: Relocating my cat

As someone who regularly transports 3 cats from A to B most weekends I know they soon got used to the journey and now just settle down once in their crates - we also moved Daphne up here to Yorkshire from London originally but she did cry most of the two hours home - I spoke to her softly all the ti...

Re: What litter do you use?

Well done on deciding to keep Ted - I'd be hopeless at fostering and would end up keeping them all :D I actually use two litters - Catsan Hygiene and Cats Best as my three seem to have different preferences. The Cats Best is great in the tray upstairs as it's flushable so no running up and down stai...

Re: Is this normal behaviour? 1 year old cat sucks blanket

Max is now 13 and has done this since he was a kitten. His mother was killed before he was weaned so he was hand reared which I guess is where it comes from. When he starts he goes off into a trans like state before finally settling down to sleep. When I was tiny I can remember sucking the blanket t...

Re: My cat is giving up :(

I also have a bind cat and whilst he has behavioural problems, finding his food and water isn't an issue so I agree with the others that this sounds more like there could be a health related problem. The stray we feed was recently very depressed and lethargic and came here and slept most of the day ...

Re: Moving house with cats - any advice/comments appreciated

I'm sure they'll be fine with the move as long as they have lots of time to establish this is their new home with plenty of their own bedding, toys and most importantly their humans around them. I would definitely keep them in for several weeks and as has been said make sure they're chipped. Also if...

Re: Help !!!

Hi - it really is awful isn't it when they do this. Has your 11 year old just started doing it since the stray arrived and has he been neutered? It should help if/when they're done but it sounds like it could be a territory issue as well as they're probably marking to establish their rights. Do they...

Re: HELP I found lumps on my 18 yr old cats abdomen ..Cancer

I'm so sorry to read about your precious cat - we all know how distressing it is to face the awful realisation that the end could be in sight. Are you in the UK? If so you could try ringing the Blue Cross to find out if they will help with an initial cost to find out what the prognosis is. If it is ...

Re: Cat help needed asap!

She actually sounds a wonderful cat and is still a kitten at a year old. Shutting her in one room after she's had the run of the house is counter productive as she's probably bored and wanting to be with her family. First off with the water thing get her a water fountain - Max constantly played with...

Re: UK equivalent of Jackson Galaxy?

Good point about the cameras although the whole thing is obviously edited into a short airtime so maybe they're there for hours filming and the cats are used to it. I know Alfie would come out as he's very social with visitors - it's Daphne he hides from lol . We are trying a lot of the tips to get ...

Does anyone watch My Cat from Hell on Animal Planet? Jackson seems to do amazing things with problem felines - just wondered if there was anyone in the UK who can work similar miracles? Could do with intense behavioural therapy on Daphne and Max

Hi - we have a similar problem having an apartment on the 2nd floor overlooking the canal which my husband insists our 3 cats would be ok to go out onto the balcony - I am adamant they won't and will not allow them access. As we're only here on a weekend mine are ok - Alfie is an outdoor cat at home...

This sounds exactly like Daphne. She came to us as an almost feral stray aged about 6 months - at first it was impossible to touch her and with 2 other cats I was really sure we'd done the wrong thing taking her on. Nearly 3 years later she still hisses, bites and scratches and the only time I can p...

I'm so sorry for your loss and the trauma of this mix up which must have been awful. Re: cat peeing around the house...

The PDSA or Blue Cross may help with the cost but I don't know how you go about it - perhaps give them a ring first to enquire. It does sound very much like an infection after the surgery so hopefully the new vet will give her some medication. She has probably been very stressed by the whole episode...

Re: Urinating in the house

Maybe they're a bit stressed with the move and missing you while you're out so marking your bed - could you keep the bedroom door shut for a couple of weeks till they get used to everything new? If not then a sheet of something crinkly like tin foil or plastic might deter them. They might also have ...

Re: New kittens - how far in the car?

If the kittens are leaving their mother for the first time they are going to be pretty scared however far you're travelling. Maybe a warm cuddly beanie bag might help but as Meriad has said you would probably be better taking two from the same litter so they're used to each other. Daph was almost fe...

Re: Why is she suddenly spraying daily after 9 months???

I have a cat who has a similar problem although not to do with outdoors - periodically she suddenly refuses to use the trays and will pee on the floor or one particular mat in the bathroom. I'm not sure why she does it. Did you notice if your cat used the soil outside to toilet in? It might be that ...
