Re: kitten peeing on my side of the bed

Lol Lilith! Just make them aware of the plug problem! I tired the recycled paper litter too and found I needed to change it every half hour! It didn't suit us at all..... But it really is a matter of finding what suits you and your cat/cats. I could see paper working for 2 cats but not for 32! The w...

Re: Strange random chewing movements when not eating?

Thank you SO SO much for that link! I did have a cat years ago who made that awful grinding noise...... The vets never explained it. She was a cat in a terrible state who had been found collapsed and was sent to me. Her name was Penelope. She had FIV, FeLv and was completely blind. She ate like a bi...

Oh Jan, you take WONDERFUL care of him! I would hand you over any of my charges in the morning, and I can tell you that that is high praise indeed in the cat-mammy stakes! D not feel guilty Hun..... You break your behind caring for him, and most people would have given up ages ago. I am sorry to see...

Re: Strange random chewing movements when not eating?

My Mammy Muffin had an terrible mouth a couple of months ago. She was in agony and the vet couldn't even open her mouth to check. So she prescribed antibiotics and Mammy was due to go back to be sedated and investigated after the weekend (it was a Friday and she hadn't been fasted). By Saturday even...

Re: Adopted Cat Help - Night Screaming

It has also just occurred to me, the foster family may have had other cats? Maybe one he bonded with? In which case he could be grieving for and calling his pal? I would really call the foster people before booking him in for a vet visit. When my mother died, Brownie had no interest in me or in life...

Re: Adopted Cat Help - Night Screaming

Hi and welcome to the forum! Others will be along I am sure, but I have had 2 night screamers in my time, so here goes! The first was Brownie. She was a very VERY old cat and was my mother's darling. I took her to live with me after my mother passed away (kinda similar to your guy eh?). Brownie didn...

new FIV boy.... (another new one!)

He came this morning. As I was on here yesterday, I got a text about him. He was already at the vets and had tested positive, and was to be PTS if he had nowhere to go..... The rest is history! The woman who contacted the charity called me. He is a huge lump of a bully boy who had been terrorising h...

Re: Little Locky losing weight....

Thanks Crewella. It is day to day really. Once he starts looking miserable and has no quality of life, it will be time. I know he would like to go out into the garden, but apart from that he seems to be enjoying being spoiled rotten. He purrs when I stroke him and interacts with the other cats, and ...

Re: kitten peeing on my side of the bed

I have the bath used as a toilet too from time to time lol! When they start, I start to leave the plug in and just an inch or two of plain water. They do NOT like wet feet and it puts them off for a few weeks! I couldn't handle the concrete of the fillers earth litters at all lol. Plus, I can compos...

Re: Help with sudden vomiting and diarrhea

When it was hot here Minnie slept in a cat carrier! With a wooly blanket! They are mad lol. If she is eating and drinking enough I wouldn't panic, just keep an eye out for dehydration, because vomiting can cause that. If it goes on and on then see the vet, but if otherwise well I would wait and see....

Laughing out loud here! I can't believe you went to so much trouble with this! It really IS like one of those magazine quizzes! Have you thought of contacting one of the cat magazines with this? I am serious! I love doing these things online and used to do them in Cosmo etc when I used to buy magazi...

Re: Help with sudden vomiting and diarrhea

I thought my elderly Minnie was on her way out last week when it was really hot here. She was just lethargic and slow, and I put it down to her age. But once it cooled she was back to normal! Having said that, sudden vomiting and diarrhoea can be caused by a zillion things. If it doesn't clear if 2-...

Re: kitten peeing on my side of the bed

Hi and welcom to the forum! A few questions to clarify a few things..... How old is the kitten? Do you know what type of litter she was used to before coming to live in her new home? Has this been happening since she arrived 3 weeks ago, or is it recent? Does she poop in the litter? Or does she EVER...

Re: Little Locky losing weight....

Thanks Jan. He is having a good spell at the moment, I am happy to report! He has hijacked my dressing gown as a bed and is eating (all the wrong stuff, but he IS eating!) and seems to be drinking and weeing less. He is happy in himself, and while he is, I am reluctant to euthanise him. But he is be...

He is still the same..... In good form, eating little bits throughout the day, and although he did vomit over the weekend, he hasn't since. I also think he is weeing and drinking less...... So the benazacare seems to be helping. Scrambled egg is saving his life to be honest, as even though he gets a...

Well, he won't come out of his flipping crate now lol! He likes playing feathers! He al...

He bases everything on completely outdated dominance theory which was based on observing wolves in captivity back in the 1940's or whenever it was originally done. Thing is, wolves in their natural state are entirely different. In captivity, it is a group of unrelated animals, and there is constant ...

Lilith, I love that remark about the tin of beans! Reminds me of the lovely cat rescue lady I got Smithy from. W were talking about a great vet we know who does a lot of cheap TNR ops for the charity. She had her own cat to see him one day, and at the end of the consult asked if she should keep him ...

Lol, she was a great cat. One half of her face was black, the other white. She had to have her white ear off due to cancer, but lived a long time after that, in the kitchen. Then one day, she got up, went outside, lay under a bush and died! The Yorkshire terrier Molly alerted us by sitting beside he...

A new feral boy here, with FIV. He has been in a crate in my bathroom since last Saturday, and is as feral as they come. Neutered before he arrived, and has young teeth (see them when he haws at me!) but has the big thick tomcat neck I love so much! He came from a local charity dealing with a terrib...

Re: Kidney failure in young cat

I hadn't thought of that at all, but it makes absolute sense! He went straight for the whiskas milk, so at least he got some calories into him by drinking that eh? I am not sure nose drops would be possible with him. He has become very tame in his weakened state, but still puts up quite a fight when...

I take it from your post that this was just picked up on accidentally? She isn't showing any symptoms? If that is the ce then she probably doesn't need drugs yet, but I am no expert as I said! A renal diet would be a good idea I reckon, and there are loads available if she doesn't like a particular ...

Sorry you are going through this..... I am far from an expert but AFAIK there is no point looking at what is inside the cysts. The best you can do is treat her with special diet and meds to help her kidney function. Others here will have been through this and know more though. I have a 2 year old in...

I think it's depends on the show. It is basically reality TV about animal behaviouralists at work. I do like Jackson, and Victoria Stillwell for dogs. Cesar Milan, on the other hand, should be executed for the damage he does to both dogs and humans alike. That man has ZERO education or qualification...

PMSL! When I was a child, we had a cat called Patch. When she got old, she stopped going outside entirely and lived on a chair in the kitchen, beside the Stanley stove. The first litter box ever was bought for her then, as she started to wee and poop in my uncles work boots! She got the nickname Pis...
