Re: Night time terrors: 1 year on

There's not a day goes by that we don't think of Tommy. He passed a few weeks before Armand and I well remember sharing your raw grief. Tommy is buried next to his doggy friend Rosie and the plants that mark the spot are coming alive with the spring. To see them makes me sad that they are no longer...

Re: Night time terrors: 1 year on

One door closes and another opens - a well-worn cliche but so often true We are all likely to outlive many cats, but that makes for a lot of cats living out their lives in comfort and love, and that can only be cause for celebration Good luck with your plans - do you plan to take Gandhi with you on...

Re: Cat not feeling good

Hi Sariah, sorry to hear about your wee pet. 12hrs is a long time in cat terms not to eat and to drink very little, have a temperature. He needs fluids as soon as possible as it could affect his kidneys.. I agree with bobbys girl, would get him to the Vet. Don't automatically fear the worst though. M...

Re: Night time terrors: 1 year on

It's been 1 year yesterday and 11 months today since my beloved cats Armand and Cody died. Has it been hard? Yes, of course, as it is with the loss of any loved one. In my old age, I find the pain of loss harder to bear, as if grief stacks up inside my heart, a reminder of my own and siblings impend...

Re: Stress head !!

Hi Didi, poor wee Bilbo, don't blame him getting upset at heavy rain and gales, I'm the same and I should know better! Forgive me for saying this but I think your insistence on getting him to eat the food he hates will probably be stressing him out even more. I have had that experience with Cody,( d...

Re: Feliway ...any good?

When we brought tiny Cody home to join bruiser Gandhi, we didn't need chemicals as they loved each other on sight. She was so very sweet natured, loved animals and humans unreservedly. I tell you this because introducing Armand was not so easy and Feliway was recommended. Never again. All 3 cats bec...

Hi Miss Kitty you'll probably find when the times right, another fur babe will find a place in your heart - not Millie's spot. As for people who say 'only a cat ...' I lost my best friend when her husband told me in no uncertain way to get over Mayday... I found this forum just after and the suppor...

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Millie. My beloved cat Armand, also died unexpectedly at the Vets earlier this year, a tumour in his chest, fluid in the lungs and yes, it is a physical pain, hurts like hell but hang on in their honey, I promise you, the raw grief does ease and life goes on...

Thank you folks, advice very much appreciated. Need advice re: Gandhi

Hi guys, you may remember after the loss of Cody and Armand earlier this year, I later posted about my beloved big grey cat Gandhi. He thrived as an only cat and my only problem was he wouldn't stop eating! But now I'm a little worried, my husband calls it 'overly fretting'. Gandhi is more like a do...

One thing I feel I must say to you Kris, yes, I was in deep despair, cried bitter tears everyday for months but, as time has passed, I don't have 'bad days' more like 'bad moments'. My wise and lovely Cat sitter, who works for Cat Protection, told me I would be happy and then suddenly, a wave would ...

Re: Royal Canin Diet Gastro intestinal food

My big grey cat Gandhi, has mega colon. We adopted him when he was about 5yrs old. At that time, he had to have a 'wash out' at the Vets who advised us he would eventually need part of his bowel removed, poor Gandhi was in awful pain and discomfort, and would probably not live for more than a couple...

Re: Going cold turkey on dry food?

Lol, Issi, ain't that the truth; it's a mad world :) Mind you it's easier for humans, as omnivores; can soon rustle up a Braunschweiger sarnie or Waldorf salad, but I could cook a banquet for the cats and myself but even if they ate whatever they wanted from it, it probably wouldn't provide them wi...

Re: Going cold turkey on dry food?

I think it may have been Burns Sarah? I am a bit confused with it anyway, as I read about brown rice being a no-no for cats and that is what they use. I also remember reading about IAMS not being good - not that I would buy it after reading about the terrible experiments they did on cats and dogs. ...

Hi Barry, your post and the subsequent replies make very interesting reading. I found something I could relate to in all of them. Re: Going cold turkey on dry food?

Thanks both. Neither of your replies surprise me! Fortunately, Bella does drink well - not excessively, so no worries there - so she is well hydrated, and the dry food is good quality - we're on Bozita at the moment. I have read so much about dry food being inherently bad for cats though, particula...

Sadly Cattuslove, I agree with the others.. My 8yr old Cody suffered CRF in April. It seemed sudden but looking back, it had been taking hold for sometime. Hitting a cat/I stole it

Here's a non urgent question but something I have thought about a lot over time. When my Bridie was ill, the symptoms were rather nebulous - she was lethargic, and didn't have much appetite. At first I put it down to warm weather (she was long-coated). But after a couple of weeks, she wasn't any better. I took her to the vet, expecting it to be something wrong with her digestio...

Re: Need help - cats fighting.

Hi Kanichen, what a dilemma and quite scary for your child to witness. In my youth in the 1950s/60s, I don't remember seeing this problem, even though we had lots of cats about the place. There was very little traffic and a lot more open spaces so the cats would come and go as they pleased, rarely c...
