Re: Trying to rehome my fathers cat

have you tried asking neighbours if they would be willing to help with feeding and basic care? I would be happy to help if I were asked - or perhaps a reliable teenager might be willing for a bit of pocket money having someone pop in a couple of times a day would surely have the added bonus of keepi...

Re: Denver

as long as there is no left open cat flap in his current home, I suspect he will be fine - but could you not start feeding him in your house before he is officially yours - cats do tend to consider home is where the grub is

can't comment on the cat litter, I'm afraid, as I don't use either

Re: Diet

I've had the same problem with my Trigger - I found after months of trying them all that he wouldn't eat any of the grain free wet foods available from Zooplus, so in the end I settled for grain-free good quality biscuits with home cooked chicken, white fish and lamb's kidneys (he wouldn't eat raw),...

Re: Cattery - family or individual pens?

will the cattery have a spare individual pen to move one of them into if they find close proximity too stressful? when I used to put Tiffany and Trigger into a cattery a few times a year, the cattery insisted they were separated as Tiffany would eat all the food so there is that aspect to consider t...

in my experience the biggest problem with feeders is not that they are ignored, but that they are staked out until they open - so put it within sight of a comfy spot

if you're the kind of person who does loads of research into caring for a very young kitten, and are ready to enlist vet aid if necessary, then I suspect she'll be much better off in your home asap

Re: My cat isn't eating after a procedure for an ear infecti

I agree - it doesn't sound, from what you say, that any of the medications are making her better,so I'd be tempted to see how she goes without any of it for a few days - apart from what you are putting down her throat, stuff put in the ears ends up down the throat too, and can often be foul tasting,...

Re: Automatic Feeder

I had a couple of the Petmate Digital Feeders, which offer the most options, but I have given up on them now, as they have failed to open a couple of times - which might have been my failure to set them properly, but even so I can't risk it I've replaced them with the 48hour Catmate ones - you won't...

she sounds a lot like my 12 year old Tiffany, who refuses all wet food except those little tins of Gourmet pate, and she only will eat half of one of them a day - nor will she eat cooked or raw meat, or fish she is prone to cystitis too, and I keep her on a maintenance dose of Cystease or similar, w...

I have in the past used Cystaid, Cystease and VetUK's own Bladder Nutrient though not Cystophan I get whatever is cheapest when I need to buy, though I may stick to the VetUK's product in future because the capsules are the easiest to open http://www.vetuk.co.uk/pet-cystitis-vetuk-bladder-nutriment-...

it sounds to me as if she may have been in an accident, and perhaps didn't get proper veterinary treatment at the time, so some residual damage remains - an Xray on top of the blood tests should show up anything going on with her skeletal structure you may find Petwipes the easiest way of cleaning u...

I'd strongly recommend you get a copy of the blood test results, and do a bit of exploring on the internet yourself

I remember Trigger's amylase levels being very high when he was HT, but a bit of googling, and consulting the good folk on the Yahoo HT group soon reassured me it was not important

Re: Cat Proofing the Garden

I enlcosed my patio over 12 years ago, and it has been the best money I ever spent - with 6foot fences you could do it on the cheap by fixing brackets which point upwards towards the inside, and draping netting over it - I had no fence so had a wooden framework put up, and used aviary galvanised wir...

Trigger's poo was really yellow in colour when I was giving him Gourmet pate regularly - same with Felix - I came to the conclusion there is something in these supermarket foods which didn't agree with him, and since I've reverted to quality dry plus pure complimentary stuff he's much improved

I'd stick a big 'Mind the Cat' notice on the door FIL will be using, just in case - it is very easy for people not tuned in to cats to be careless about doors

to be ultra safe though, could you not scoop the disgusting things up and put them in a container then add salt?

I've had Tiffany on a Cystease, which is basically the same as Cystophan, for years after a couple of bouts of idiopathic cystitis - she has had one every other day for a long time, but it took me a couple of rounds of getting to that - a week on two a day, followed by a fortnight of one a day, then...

I think I would leave a smallish amount of dry biscuits in the shed, with a water bowl but not wet food, which would attract flies - and not much either as you don't want every stray in the district popping by for a free lunch will you be out and about a fair bit in the garden during the summer mont...
