Re: Frontline Alert!

They do ssmetimes have a lick afterwards but not much as I guess it tastes unpleasant and it doesn't seem to bother them if you do it just before a tasty meal that tends to distract them long enough as it dries very quickly you don't get any reaction like you can get if they manage to reach round an...

Re: Frontline Alert!

We find the front line spray very effective and instead of spraying directly on the cat you can wear rubber gloves spray it on your hands and rub it all through their fur it reduces the stress of having to hold onto them and spray them and you don't get the skin reaction of so many spot on treatments

Re: Dilemma - adding another cat or not?

Hi personally I would give another cat a try go for a younger cat male or female who is also sociable with other cats your obviously sensible and caring and will take care with introductions so some lucky cat will get a good new home and hopefully bring you all a lot of joy

Hi and good luck with your new kittens personally speaking nothing on earth would be persuading me to feed more than very occasional dry food to kittens its not a good idea and particularly not to any with Persian in their breeding due to the more common risk of pkd with this breed

I think you need to take some responsibility here the cat was not always aggressive its a product of his lifestyle and treatment and keeping him in a kitchen is only going to make him worse your wife no longer likes him you say that will be obvious to him yes you have a child to protect but you also...

Re: Cat Fence

Cat fencing is much cheaper if you diy rather than use a firm but I would not use weldmesh as someone has said because the holes are small and I have known cats to get a toe caught when jumping from the overhang and be left hanging in mid air by a toe so never weldmesh use stuff with bigger holes

Re: Stray cat coming every day, has lots of scratches. Looks so sad.

Hi and welcome it may be worth contacting your local cats protection and explain the situation asking if they could help you with his neutering and vet check and having him back and continue to feed him as they may well not have shelter space at the moment it would be a big help to get him neutered ...

Re: Blasted Old Cat is getting terribly thin.

Have you tried high fat content mince human quality not pet feed raw or cook whichever puss prefers the high fat content gives maximum calories for the amount the cat eats so if they only eat a little it helps with weight gain but like all foods some love it some don't worth a go though

The kind of swelling you mention is common and can last for weeks due to internal stitches and the cats reaction its generally no problem UNLESS infection develops when a course of antibiotics should quickly clear it the trouble is many vets leave it too late to start antibiotics.....ANY infection o...

Has the cat been screened for haemobartanella a blood parasite that can cause anaemia and quite common it can take several tests to pick up the parasite and can sometimes be better dected by a blood sample from an ear prick rather than from a vein

I only have experience of fiv and diabetes separately but my advice would be simply treat the diabetes as with any other cat his fiv need not be relevant at all he's probably been fiv+ for a long time without consequence just monitor his health closely
