Re: My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
Oh God I'm crying here at what you just said. Thankyou. We went to bed at midnight and I woke up two hours later to find her twitching slightly. It's weird now I think about it. I was holding her paw as we fell asleep and thought it felt cold. The only thing is, when I woke up, she was on the pillow...

Re: My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
Thankyou Molly. I think I'm in shock at the moment. My friend Anna said just the same as you. Am going to talk to vet though just to see if she can shed some light on animals simply slipping off. I think she did and if so, it's the best you can ask for.

My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
My darling Oodyboo who would have been 22 in January died last night. She had CKD but just a few days ago was still playing and jumping up and down off the bed. Last few days she had been weak on her hind legs and also no poo for four days. Took her to vets yesterday and we gave her an antibiotic in...

FIV Boy has jaw bone infection - do antibiotics work?
I met Mr BC (Mr Black Cat) in my garden ten years ago - he was a stray. I had him neutered (or is it spayed?) and that's when I found out he had FIV. It was the Cats Protection who paid for the operation and they advised that I put him to sleep, but I refused. FF ten years and he has puss in his mou...

Re: Time to say goodbye
In my view, it's best our little darlings be pts sooner rather than later. It's so hard to call it though isn't it? Really sorry to hear about your losses Papacat and Gabby - I've still got it all to come. *hugs*

(Northamptonshire) Large cat needing a holiday from home while my old cat is ill
Hi there, I have an old 19 1/2 year old cat who is in her last weeks. She is tiny and the big boy I have who I found wandering the streets 5 years ago keeps wanting to play games with her. This stresses her out and I need to pack him off (I will pay for his food) for a while. This is temporary becau...

Re: Cat with pancreatitis - blood in diarrhea.
Hi Maria, no she's not on any meds. She is tiny - she was the runt of the litter no one wanted - and for some reason her tummy is super sensitive (as sh'es got older) and she gets ill on meds. Mr Frisky. Thanks. My cat also has IBS. I don't know. She is ok at the moment but last week she had a burst...

Re: Cat with pancreatitis - blood in diarrhea.
Thanks Alan. She is weeing ok - it's died down a bit now. What I'm worried about is one day when I'm waiting for the inflammation to pass, she will have a horrible death and won't recover. I've never heard of a cat having bloody poos on and off for a year and surviving. Actually it's just blood that...

Re: Cat with pancreatitis - blood in diarrhea.
Thanks Kay. She doesn't take well to Metacam (bad reaction). It seems to have calmed down now, fingers crossed. I've just given her slippery elm - have no idea if it works or not as it's hard to know if it just dies down on its own. Stress!!

Re: Cat with pancreatitis - blood in diarrhea.
Thanks. She's had blood in her poo on and off for a year - nothing the vets give her helps - she is very sensitive to tablets and they make her ill. So I normally let it pass. If I take her to the vets there is nothing they can do apart from put her to sleep. Apart from this she is ok. And when it p...

Cat with pancreatitis - blood in diarrhea.
Hi all,
My 19 year old cat has got pancreatitis which flares up and then calms down again. When it flares up, her diarrhea has blood inj it. After a few days it tends to disappear. I wanted to ask - is blood in poo on and off normal with pancreatitis? Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks.

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.
Hi TCM, I'm glad the search term for Metacam and ataxia (wobbly legs if anyone is searching that) comes up - I was absolutely baffled by my cats wobby ataxic legs. Has your vet mentioned any connection between the Metacam and the wobbly legs? Does anyone here know anything about it? I still remember...

Re: Time to say goodbye
Thankyou Janey and Mayday. xx Issie, thanks so much for that - this is what I like to read. I have seen your progress over the months and remember clearly when you were going through those awful dark days. It's invaluable information. Your sister's words made me tear up a little bit - but in a nice ...

Re: Time to say goodbye
Thanks BG and Issie, It's been up and down - you know what it's like. One day they are great and the next day you're thinking you might have to have them pts. I know she doesn't have long left but she is good lately. Issie I'm glad Gandhi is doing well. It's also REALLY good to know that time does h...

Re: Time to say goodbye
Hi Issie, Funnily enough I was just recording my girl playing - yes playing at almost 19. I'm going to send the video to my vet so they know what she is like at home because all they see is her cowering at the vets. She is doing fine and I have no idea why. She hasn't been to the vets for a couple o...

Re: Time to say goodbye
Thanks Bobbys Girl and Janey. I think she might need to go soon (next fortnight) but right now she is so much better than yesterday. I'm finding that keeping her mentally stimulated is helping - I do this anyway but more so at the moment.

Re: Time to say goodbye
PLease everyone, I feel bad as you've all left such nice messages but she improved dramatically in the night - its not happening today. :) Am wondering if now the drugs gone from her system she might make it for a bit longer. If I can keep her like this - purring, rubbing up against furniture, deman...

Bobbys Girl, I remember reading that now and I am really grateful and thankful that you jogged my memory because I'm worrying about whether its the right time or not and it's a relief to read other people saying they made the same decision. Re: Time to say goodbye
Hi Bobbys Girl,
Thankyou. Can I ask you - you made the decision to have your darling pts but HE (Tommy?) took the decision out of your hands? Did he pass over before? Sorry, hope this isn't a rude question but not sure what you mean and my head is all over. Ignore me if its too sad to remember.

Time to say goodbye
My darling 18 year old cat has IBS and Pancreatitis. One minute she is asking me for food and the next she has little interest in anything. I tried her on some drugs the other day but they spaced her out. So she started eating without any drugs and I thought she might live another two months. I don'...

Re: Lethargic cat
Hi Mr Frisky, My darling is sitting hunched up as if in pain - Ive noticed her sitting like this on and off over the last several months but as she has IBS I thought that was the reason - it might still be but now she has the double whammy of pancreatitis. Just been bawling on the phone to vet - tak...

Re: Lethargic cat
Hi Mr Frisky, My 18 year old girl has just been diagnosed with pancreatitis. They gave her an anti nausea shot and a course of Synulox. Within two hours of giving her the first dose of Sybulox, she was heaving (she is never sick or heaves) and passing blood. Vet said to carry on and if the same happ...

Re: The end is nigh.....she has pancreatitus
Thanks all. She has perked up again and is eating quite well and purring her head off. Im going to talk to vet tomorrow as she isn't there today. One was meant to ring me back today but got nothing. Oody has never gagged and heaved like that - or pooed blood like that - two hours after the Synulox -...

Re: The end is nigh.....she has pancreatitus
I will check with vets but only given her half a tablet - she has just eaten. Will ring vets in a mo but am sure we had this problem before and they said it was ok as only had one dose. I am convinced that is what made her heave this morning and the pooey blood. Sorry this is short - need to cuddle ...
