Re: Pilling ideas for a tricky puss please!

You're right, they're so knowing! I even try to make sure she doesn't see me putting the pills in the food but she still seems to know lol. Our other cat will let me pop his pill 'down the hatch' but Bailey won't allow it, even the vet can't get her mouth open!

Pilling ideas for a tricky puss please!

Bailey our Ragdoll was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis two weeks ago after a ct scan at a specialist vets confirmed it. The vet prescribed high doses of ronaxan and prednisolone for four weeks then just on to a lower dose of the steroid. Bailey is impossible to pill but was doing well by adding th...

Re: Murmur in heart

Hi, one of my cats was found to have a heart murmur when he was between one and two years old. He had a scan which showed he had HCM although he had no other symptoms at all. If it was me I would want to know more, it may not be anything serious but it will worry you without proper advice. My cat is...

Re: Protrusion from under top eyelid

When I saw the photo it reminded me of when a human upper eyelid is turned inside out, it looks similar to that. So I wonder, like bobbys girl, whether the eyelid could have prolapsed. Never heard of it but maybe try another vet in the practice because it really shouldn't be like that. Good luck.

Re: Bronchitis

Thanks for your good advice Janey, we will have to be more vigilant. We've noticed she coughs at night quite a lot, and if she gets stressy during the day can set it off. We've started with a change of wet food and will look at the cleaning products. I don't know much about natural products so will ...

Re: Bronchitis

Hi, the vet asked if we used air fresheners or similar but we rarely use them and the only plug ins we have are feliways. Could she react to that? Harry's cardio vet reacts to the Feliway in her room and gives her asthma but don't know if it could affect a cat in the same way.. Our cleaning products...

Re: Bronchitis

Bailey has been on steroid tablets for a few days now and she is still coughing, three long episodes in the night. The vet had talked about using a spacer and mask as in asthma treatment if the tablets alone didn't work. But she doesn't have difficulty breathing and she doesn't wheeze, also the ches...

Haha! Alfie does this at night too, he raids the laundry basket and carries socks around making that yowly meowy noise! In the morning we find socks in odd places. We have to shut him out of the bedroom if he makes too much noise though :)

Re: Boris has an irregular heartbeat...

Hi, I have to keep an eye on Harry's respiratory rate because of his hcm. My vet says it should be between 20- 30 per minute, lower end when resting. One website says 16-40 is a normal range but not sure about that.. Sorry to hear about Boris' 'dicky ticker' hope his appointment goes well and it's n...

Re: Brushes

I use a slicker brush too occasionally on our two long haired cats. Two or three times a week I run a Mikki de tangle comb through their fur to keep the matts at bay. One of them hates being groomed and bites the comb/ brush so have to catch her when she's asleep and doesn't care lol!

Thanks for looking, I've looked at the link and it sounds perfect but too far away. It would need to be in Nottingham and can't see a similar practice here but I'll keep looking.

Thanks for your reply, remember reading about your Hector, glad he responded to the treatment well. Will try a blander food for breakfast and see if it helps because the antibiotics are in it. Feline Clinic

I just posted a thread regarding Baileys bronchitis and the vet we usually see, who has thirty years experience and specialises in feline health, is leaving on Friday! The other vets are locums who come and go so now we're (hubby and me)both worried. I would love to find another permanent vet with s...

Bronchitis

Bailey our 7yo Ragdoll has been diagnosed with bronchitis which began in December last year. At first we thought she was trying to bring up a furball, then she went off her food so my husband took her to the vet. After a thorough examination, she had an injection which made her feel much better. Aft...

Re: Help with Ragdoll

Hi, I can understand how difficult this as we are having the same issues with our female Ragdoll (Bailey)and her 'brother', a Ragdoll cross who came to us last year having been neglected by previous owners. She is completely bonkers, highly strung and has behavioural problems ie spraying. Our carpets...

Well they all look a bit put out with the new arrangement at teatime! I haven't refilled the dry food bowls just the wet food. May put a little dry on it as well if they'll eat it like that. It's a bit tough on them for now until tubby tipple learns his place at meal times! Harry has hcm and needs t...

Re: Fat cat

I used to feed PG in the garage to start with but moved him in to integrate him with the other cats but I have been thinking about putting his bowl back in there again, not much room in there though. Not had a fat cat before so am a bit concerned for his health. Our other ex strays calmed down on ea...

Re: Fat cat

Thanks for that Crewella, I'm obviously going to be much stricter then in future. PG is approx 2 yo and the others are 6- 7. He is less active now he's with us but he was a hunter and we used to find leftover mice parts in the garden! It's possible he still 'eats out' even now when he's out and abou...

Fat cat

Our newish cat PG who came to live us recently was already a bit tubby but he is so greedy he looks even bigger now! He was 5.8kg a month ago and although not a small cat he looks fat round the middle. He normally eats three pouches of Felix a day plus a little dry down overnight but if the others l...

Re: Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray

It's quite funny to watch him act as if he owns the place now, then the look of astonishment on his face when one of the other cats appears! He's a bit too boisterous and playful for them at the moment so I imagine he's fairly young although fully grown. Alfie gave him a nasty scratch on his ear yes...

Re: Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray

This gorgeous cat has now moved in with us and our gang! He happily sleeps on our bed at night with two of the others, or he goes in the garage where he has a bed, food and litter tray. Our other ex stray hates him, but only outside! Inside he is tolerated but it's a bit tense.. He's off to the vet ...

Three of my cats reacted strangely to Avocate, subdued and off their food for a couple of days, so are now on Stronghold with no side effects. The other two cats are fine with Advocate.

Re: Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray

A catflap is a good idea, we've been talking about it for a while even though there's nothing in it to pinch. We used to put pillows and blankets in two boxes for our strays a few years ago, a catflap would have been useful then.

Re: Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray

Hi, Abbie does sound similar to this cat, most of our neighbours know him too as he's so friendly. I will have another word with his owner to let her know he still spends his days in our garage in case she hasn't seen him recently. The garage door is always up a little, when we're in, for our own ca...

Re: Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray

Thanks Crewella, I think you've hit the nail on the head! He looks very healthy and happy, she hasn't put another collar on him since I spoke to her about it when she was back home. It's not that he's neglected or ill treated. As you say he lives as he chooses but I wish she would keep him in overni...
