Re: Stray cat
Hi, well done for trying to sort this cat, he's lovely. I can only tell you my own experience with two strays we adopted in the end when no shelters could take them. If he'll let you, put a paper collar on him with your details to see if he has an owner out there, and post his picture on the lost an...

Re: Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray
Thanks for your responses, I'll have to think about the rescue suggestion. When I spoke to the owner previously about how her cat spent long hours in our garage, she just laughed. The thing is he is in good condition, loves his food and is very playful and affectionate. I wish we could take him on o...

Re: Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray
He's chipped so he would be returned to the owner if handed into a rescue I would imagine, that could actually shock them into taking more interest in him possibly..
I agree with you that people should take better care of their pets, can't understand it.

Neighbour's free roaming ex- stray
Hope this isn't too long-winded but not sure what to do about this lovely very friendly cat. Earlier this year we thought he was a stray as he spent all his time in our garden but a paper collar resulted in a call from his owner who said they'd taken him in, had him neutered and chipped a few months...

Re: Basil not eating
Sorry to hear Basil is poorly, so worrying when they're off their food. A few years ago my cat had the same symptoms as yours and turned out to be cholangiohepatitis. After a few days in 'hospital' and then home syringe feeding him, he made a full recovery. Here's hoping Basil is feeling better very...

Re: Advocate & Milbermax
Hi, Two of my cats who are long haired have advocate and then droncit every six months. Our vets don't stock Milbemax anymore only droncit, no idea why. I wonder if there was a problem using the two together as on the healthy pet club scheme, advocate and Milbemax were the two treatments that were s...

Re: My Ragdoll x Russian Blue
Just catching up with this enjoyable thread which has been spoiled by sour Hunnybunny which is a shame. One of my cats is a Ragdoll x Norwegian forest cat and a gorgeous big healthy cat. On the insurance application form it asks if the cat is a pedigree, cross breed or moggie so for petplan there is...

Re: Pancreas low enzyme reading.
Thanks for your reply Eliz, the vet didn't mention EPI and didn't seem too concerned. I found out about that online. He tends to do his business outside so don't know if it's normal or not.. will have to watch out for when he uses the litter tray next time. She said just to monitor his weight. Harry...

Thanks Kay, simple solution I've always trusted this vet but this time we both felt really uneasy. We would be straight down to the vets if any symptoms started before the next general checkup in January.

Pancreas low enzyme reading.
Harry recently had a full blood screening done as he is losing weight. He has hcm but is doing well on his atenolol. The result showed all is well except the pancreas is reading 11 when normal is 12- 82 so only slightly low. The vet suggested Panzym supplement on his food although the reading might ...

Re: Polyp in ear.
Nearly three weeks on and now I'm confused! Alfie reacted to the Otomax as if it was hurting him as it went down into the ear canal so stopped giving it after a few days. The vet said the polyp has reduced a little and changed colour, but will grow again in time so the op was booked for 8/9. I felt ...

Re: Cat with leg trapped through his collar :(
Having left two messages and now put a large message with the said collar stapled to it through the door I suspect she will be abit fed up with me! I have stressed with each one that stretchy collars are bad and non stretch easy release safety collars are best so I hope she takes notice and 'gets th...

Re: Cat with leg trapped through his collar :(
Ok mystery solved I know where he lives! His owners are away and their daughter goes in to feed him and their other three cats so my mind is put at rest. the nice chatty neighbour says they're well cared for and ginger cat is probably being opportunistic (greedy!).

Re: Polyp in ear.
Thanks for your replies Kay and Ria. He is insured thank goodness. He doesn't have an infection so am a little puzzled unless she is making sure it is actually a polyp even though her colleague thought it was a polyp too. The vet said the op for Alfie would mean removing part of the ear canal to rea...

Re: Cat with leg trapped through his collar :(
Well, I am embarrassed now as the address I was certain this cat lived at doesn't at all. I was so certain it was on a previous collar. The woman there has two cats but not a ginger one! So after leaving yet another message (on the number I saved on my phone from when I put a paper collar on him mon...

Polyp in ear.
6yo Alfie went for a check up two weeks ago and the vet found a polyp deep in his ear, confirmed by a fellow vet. So I've been cleaning the ear on her advice until yesterday so she could see the polyp more clearly without the waxy bits in there. She said it had changed colour and said Alfie would ne...

omg Jacks, poor cat. I've only seen online the injuries caused by these collars and they're horrendous. I've called the woman twice this morning but had to leave a message. Re: Cat with leg trapped through his collar :(
I hope she's interested in wanting to know about safety collars, we'll see. This cat was a stray that she took in having tried to find his owners and she did all the right things ie neutering, vaccinating and chipped..He has a catflap and he seems to be out most of the time- in our garden or trying t...

Cat with leg trapped through his collar :(
Luckily we found him in our porch at 11pm tonight just laying there. So we got him inside to have a better look and realised the collar was so tight that we had to cut it off. The cat was so busy eating our cats food he didn't notice what we were doing! It was a stretchy collar, all frayed with an o...

Re: Poor cat is locked inside a garage :(
Well, the lovely Bailey did it again today! She disappeared before 9am and at 2pm my husband took a walk round the block . Lo and behold she was shut in the same garage! When they let her out she rubbed and purred around their legs like old friends. Hmmmm! My husband had a chat with them then carrie...
