Re: Hyperthyroid and not eating

Tapazole is more usually called Felimazole, and can upset some cats - but if her thyroid levels are now normal when you've only got a few doses into her, it suggests either that something else is going on, or the dosage was too high vets in the UK often do start off too high, and the thyroid levels ...

Re: really need help!!!

I would lock Mia in, and let her get over the shock of finding herself sharing her home in her own time as long as Rosie does not retaliate, their relationship should settle down eventually, though Mia may always be up for putting the usurper in her place from time to time, as my head girl Tiffany d...

my own experience of cat ownership - if that is the right word - agrees mostly with this article, especially the bit about cats being most affectionate when they come to you

someone was finding it difficult to source this - have just found this site, where all the products, including the senior pate, are very reasonably priced

Re: Curcumin and Metacam

I shall bear that in mind - thank you for the info - I wonder if part of the problem with Metacam is that quite a few of the cats given it may be poor eaters, and so it is too aggressive on an empty stomach - this could be affecting the statistics regarding side effects

Re: Curcumin and Metacam

Hi Beanie - my Trigger was found to have a pelvic mass, probably malignant though as there is no treatment I can easily access it hasn't been thoroughly investigated he has had daily oral Metacam for a fortnight now without showing any signs of it making him ill, and if he is on borrowed time I am n...

Curcumin and Metacam

this is the active ingredient of tumeric, and is considered a natural anti-inflammatory, with anecdotal evidence to suggest it can sometimes shrink cancerous tumours I thought I might give it a try with Trigger, who remains an apparently well cat with a gammy leg - but doubt I should give it at the ...

this is absolutely the case with my Tiffany - after years of keeping her cystitis at bay on a Cystease every other day, she had another bout of cystitis when a farm cat kept coming close to the enclosure - upping the Cystease to two a day for a fortnight saw her over it in a couple of days I have he...

Re: Please advice needed

I'm glad Beryl is turning up regularly, but have to say - sorry - I can't think it right she can't use the catflap to get in during the night - what would happen if she were being chased by a fox or dog, or there was a big thunderstorm, which cats are petrified of? I find the idea of a cat terrified...

there is no cure for the wet form of FIP, KW

cats with the dry form can live for much longer, but the fluid in this poor boy suggests it is the wet form

Re: My baby has FIP

you could try having a word with Glasgow to see how long they would take to do further tests - it might be possible for you to bring him home on the same day FIP can only be diagnosed 100% post mortem, so you might want to give it a try - not with any hope but just to be as sure as you can be, for y...

I lost a 5 month old to this horrible disease - I'm afraid it is a death sentence my Boycie ended up with multiple organ failure, because my vet was slow to diagnose FIP - in fact he was sent on a long journey to the Bristol Veterinary Hospital before being diagnosed, and although they gave him a bl...

you could try the sort of harness which wraps around like a coat, with the lead attached to the back - the big advantage with those, apart from being very secure, is that the cat can get used to wearing the coat indoors before trying it with the lead like this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/XCat-Cat-Ha...

I don't think she's unhappy - in fact cats don't have any concept of happiness or unhappiness what she is is curious - and you'll know the old saying 'curiousity killed the cat' so stay firm - and if you want to give her a sniff of the wide world whilst staying safe you could try her on a harness an...

poor girl - she clearly feels she has been driven out of the house by an interloper can you lay your hands on a large dogcrate, which you could put the kitten in for part of the day, whilst your girl can sniff around and get used to the enemy - in her eyes! - without feeling any threat if she would ...

leaving her home alone for two weeks when she hasn't been with you that long could be a risk - and she would probably have more human contact in a good cattery the important thing, I feel, is to find a cattery that does not take dogs, and to pay a visit before booking - October shouldn't be as busy ...

but if you do get up one day and find she has passed in her sleep, is that really so bad? we would all want an ending like that

it could be Tabitha is having problems coping with having to share you with your boyfriend as well as her sister, and is therefore driving Fern away, as the easier target for her jealousy it's not uncommon for cats to fall out as they get older though, especially females, so I wouldn't read too much...

I'm always amazed at the amount of cat hair picked up by the lightweight stick cleaner I use mostly to pick up scattered litter - hair I haven't even seen - so perhaps it's true about power not being everything but I have laminate flooring rather than carpeting, and I suspect that makes the main dif...

Trigger has a mass

I took Trigger to the vet on Friday, because his left hock had suddenly become swollen, and he was limping - an x-ray has revealed he has a large mass in his pelvic area, which is impeding his movement, causing him to injure the tendons in the leg a sample was taken, but as the only option if it tur...

Re: Heart murmur diagnosed, yesterday. I am FREAKING OUT!

don't panic - to some extent we all spend our days waiting for our cats to show signs of illness, given that we live a lot longer than they do meanwhile, he doesn't know there's any possible future problem, and lives his life each day at a time - I'd try to put it out of your mind too, and follow hi...
