my 13 year old Penny, who I took in April 2019, has only ever eaten dry food, and just lately will only eat one flavour of one variety of that - she has a Felix soup each evening, and like your cat leaves most of the 'bits', especially of the tuna and she is the healthiest 13 year old cat I have eve...

Re: Feeling so much guilt

It's absolutely normal to feel guilt about some aspect of a pet's passing, whether it be naturally or by euthanasia, so just accept it as an inevitable side effect which we all feel I have no experience of fur puffing up, but I am absolutely certain that no animal understands what is happening to th...

Re: Coaxing a rehomed cat out of hiding?

I had a cat who hid underneath the kitchen units for a couple of weeks - apart from removing one of the kick boards, so he could see into the kitchen, I left him to it - the kitchen is in fact a good place for a cat to get used to household noise and smells, and lots of coming and going. Once he had...

Re: Advice please! Moving/stray cat issue

I have been looking after an outdoor cat for some years now - he's not a stray but what round here would be called a farm cat - inbred, unneutered and in poor general health - he has a kennel inside my shed, and uses a cat flap to get in and out. If I had to move, I would first put out an appeal on ...

Re: Am I expecting too much? Please help...

only thing I would add to Mollycat's post is to take a wavy rod toy with you when visiting any future kittens and see how they react to it - if they like playing, and most kittens do, then they will like playing at home with you, and will come out of any hidey-holes to do so - and your 3 year old wi...

Re: Advice for AWOL grumpy cat

is there any possibility your old neighbour would allow a cat flap in their shed? I'm sure you will be more worried if she intends to stay put under the shed when it turns really cold. I have been feeding a feral cat for years now, and have put a cat flap in my shed, and a Mr Snugs kennel inside, wi...

I have been there too - I made the mistake of getting a kitten too soon after my sole companion cat of 14 years died unexpectedly I soon realised I didn't want a kitten, but my Bridge cat back again - looking back now at a distance of some years I can see I would have been much happier had I adopted...

I have found the easiest way to deter a carpet-scratching cat is to tack some offcuts on to a bit of heavyweight chipboard, and let her get on with it

cheap to do and easy to replace the carpet

I paid £40 to have a stray cat euthanized last year - that was the total bill, and I left the body at the vets

I use a very fine silica litter, which has the consistency of sand - fine clay litters are better value but I can't cope with the weight of it fine silica litter is very lightweight, and dries out solids very quickly - the wet patches just have to be stirred into the dry - I tip it out every fortnig...

that would be my solution too - and not just because of the neighbours - it gives enormous peace of mind to be able to stop worrying about traffic, predators, dogs, cat fights etc

it doesn't have to be the whole garden - I have an enclosed patio area around the back door which is 40x30 feet
