Re: Night time terrors: 1 year on
Oh Issi, I read your post and had to go away and think about it. That is one profound question! The brief, perhaps trite answer is that it is the price we pay for loving someone. My mum is feeling this a lot right now. She is 91 on Friday. Her side of the family is quite long lived but recently she ...

Re: Obsessive carpet pulling following loss of litter mate
I'm really sorry to hear that. It does sound like it's George's way of dealing with the loss of his brother. I took my boys to be neutered yesterday. Fred was easy to put in a carrier but Billy disappeared and wouldn't come when we called. Poor Fred got so distressed he called and cried and Billy ca...

Re: Here's a how d'ya do!
Well they are both home and Fred has been yelling for something to eat. I gave in and gave him some chicken that I'd saved for them. Billy is a little more groggy and is sleeping in front of the fire. I am just glad they are OK. We'll must have to keep an eye on Fred. Thanks for getting back to me. ...

Hi, and welcome to CC. It must have been a shock to hear about your kittens, but please don't despair. You see the little fella who is my avatar? That's Bob and he is FIV+. We found that out when he was one - he probably got that from his mum. He is five now and leads a pretty normal life. He lives ...

Here's a how d'ya do!
We took the little boys in to be neutered this morning.OH has just phoned up to see how they went on. Billy is fine, (snip, snip, no more bolshy Bill  ) but there was a problem with Freddie. His 'little buds' have not descended - it was hard to see with all the hair. That might explain why he i...

Re: What is this?
Gracie has had that problem. She is so fat she can't turn right around to groom her bum and the fur does tend to get matted there. She has a short coat but, for some reason and incredibly thick, fluffy under coat - and she HATES being groomed!the Perhaps the fat and thick fur means she is a new bree...

Re: Kinda Cat related but mostly a Rant. Sorry in advance
I agree with Ruth. You might try sharing a stall with someone (and sharing the costs). Also try and come up with other designs. As a designer myself, I have had some experience of 'freelance' it's not easy, you have to persevere. Good luck! Oh BTW, I have seen that look on my cats faces, usually whe...

Re: What is this?
You can get fractionated coconut oil which is liquid at room temperature. I use it in homemade handcream and moisturisers. I have added a couple of drops of lavender essential oil to tablespoon of it and rubbed it into Bob's neck. He seems to be relatively tick free so far this year. Purdy will lick...

Re: What is this?
Yeh, dandruff! Freddie seems to have it quite bad. I don't know whether it is because he has long hair. His coat is lovely and glossy, but when I brush him it's snowflake city!

Re: How should I deal with my very, very affectionate kittens?
We can't fit one of those mats under our doors, but our 'scratchers' Freddie, Willow and Purdy do like to scratch the rubber-backed non-slip mat by the back door. They are tough, quite cheap and fit under any door. They also come in quite big sizes. We once had a stray dog for a short while. In his ...

Re: Need help naming my new kitten
Now there's a point! My sister was adopted by a cat (he just turned up one day). Long story, but the owners didn't want him back. When she found out his name she said ' if you think I'm standing on the step shouting 'Elvis' you can think again!'

Hi there! What a sweet boy. As for a name, as much as I like there to be another Tommy in the world (I had a Tommy and what a superstar he was), I think your boy would make a wonderful Anakin. Not a name I would have thought of, but I think it suits him.
May the Fourth be with you.

How can I be cross?
I have just gone into the kitchen to make a cup of tea, only to find Freddie standing over the body of a shrew. He almost smiled when he saw me and lifted up one foot, before backing away from his prize. The last time I saw that behaviour was when my dog, Bonnie, wanted me to throw a ball she had ju...

Re: Feeling Broken
My two black kittens, brothers Freddie and Billy are inseparable. They cuddle together, eat together and wash each other. Billy is the more adventurous of the two and often, when he is out exploring the garden, Freddie, who is more of a home bird, will suddenly realise Bill isn't there and wander ar...

Yes, at that age it's best not to handle them at all - as much as you want to cuddle them! Having said that, yay, black cats rule.

If his immune system is compromised perhaps he is reacting to the adjuvant in the vaccine?

I am so sorry to hear about Bubba. 18.5 years is quite some time to share your life with someone. You must really be missing him. It is hard to accept it at the moment but it really sounds like you made the right decision. There is a saying you will hear on here, better a day too soon than a day too...

What's the difference? Probably the price! Providing it is a good quality food, and he likes it, I just carry on feeding him the same. I do ring the changes from time to time - but still come back to Felix AGAIL pouches and James Wellbeloved dry food. You can get kitten, adult and senior in both foo...

I'd heard that, Vivian. It's odd that Oz authorities are anti ANY cannabis products but pro mandatory vaccinations, whatever the circumstances. The power of big pharma or what?!

Re: Rehomed cat advice
Hi and welcome to CC. I agree with what fjm and Lilith have said and can't add much to to it except to say that, like Lilith, I took in an older stray tom cat who was quite hostile and frightened at first. But with a little TLC he changed into a real cuddle bunny. While agreeing that your friend sho...
