Re: Sad News

So sorry to hear the news Andy. As the others have said, please don't blame yourself. I know it is easier said than done and we all go through the 'what if's' - they don't help. Please don't close the door to adopting another kitty. I am sure, when the time is right, a new friend will come along. Th...

Re: Pebbles Furever home

I don't think Vivian will mind me saying, but I heard from her today and things are not going so well for Pebbles. She has come to blows with the resident cat and the new owner thinks she may have made a mistake taking her. I think it's early days yet and she should give it more time. Let's send pos...

Re: Pallina has been hospitalized: pancreatitis

I am so sorry to hear the news Antonio. I have been a bit preoccupied with Freddie and now Purdy, but I have been following Pallina's fight.

Although you were not by her side, it was nice that she passed at home in familiar surroundings. RIP little one.

Re: Vibes for little Fred

Fred seems to be doing well, though he was very fretful when we got back from our weekly shop this afternoon. I got him out of the cage and asked OH to keep an eye on him while I made our tea.

Looks like they both had a tiring day!

Re: And then there were four

Oh the things we do for our fur babies! I am yet to start baking for them but last week I made some vanilla ice cream for us and I had plenty of help with the 'washing up'! ;) As I finished with the mixing bowls, there were a couple of helpers on the kitchen table waiting for our own version of Lick...

Re: Any ideas?

That's what we thought. But I thought it was only with vaccinations as there are some nasty adjuvants in vaccines (aluminium, mercury, formaldehyde). That I can understand, but I am not sure of the contents of AB's and pain killers?

Any ideas?

I feel bad about this. With all the fuss about Freddie over the last week we hadn't noticed how bad this had got. A few weeks ago Purdy was having some health issues and seemed to be having trouble chewing. When she was still very young she got into a fight with something (?) and ended up with a bro...

Re: Vibes for little Fred

Hope all is going well this morning. How long does he have to be kept confined? Yes , thank you. Young Freddie had a good night, a big breakfast and some play time with one of those treat thingies - you put the biscuits in and they try and get them out! I was outside for a short time this afternoon...

We took the collar of shame off so he could have a good wash. He has had his tea and a big wee. So I think he will settle now.

Re: Vibes for little Fred

OH called the vets this morning for an update on Freddie. He was put through to Luis, who said he is so pleased with Freddie's recovery that he can come home TODAY! He must have strict cage rest and he is to go back in a week for a bandage change and X-ray. I'm just going to get the cage out and put...

Re: Vibes for little Fred

Just got off the phone from the vet. He said the operation went well and they have successfully joined the bone and pinned it and Freddie is already coming around from the anaesthetic. Hopefully they have saved his leg. They will keep him in and change the bandage on Saturday. If everything looks OK...

Luis just called, the swelling has gone down, they will operate this morning! He has, once again warned they may not be able to save Freddie's leg. EVERYTHING crossed. Right now I just want my boy back home safe and sound.

Re: Vibes for little Fred

The latest news - the leg was still too swollen today, But the vet, Luis, hopes to operate tomorrow morning. Everything crossed for then.

I don't know why, but I feel worn out. God knows how Freddie is feeling. I keep sending him loving vibes and talking to him - long distance.

Re: Vibes for little Fred

We called into the vets on the way out this morning and spoke to the vet who will do the op. We saw the X-ray, he has broken the head off his right femur. There was still a lot of swelling and he wouldn't operate until it has gone down. He is hoping to put two pins in the leg, but it all depends on ...

Freddie update. We called this morning and Freddie is down for the Op tomorrow morning. Re: Vibes for little Fred

Thanks for that Lilith. x fjm - we have a cage we bought when we were introducing the kittens. So he will be used to it. Problem is it's a big cage in a small house. The only places it fits are under the kitchen table and in the lounge. Still as long as he is home safe we'll sort something out. It's...

Re: Vibes for little Fred

Thank you Alan. Update - My poor little mite has broken his femur. The vet told me 2 options - 1. amputation or 2. operation to fix the leg and 6 weeks+ recovery and rehab, cage rest. Operation and cage rest it is. It's Bank Holiday over here so they won't operate until Tuesday! :x But she h...

Vibes for little Fred

Young Freddie was very quiet this morning and although he does like to 'sleep in', he was in Gracie's basket, not like him. I noticed a little scratch on his face and when I lifted him up to check closer he meowed in pain. He cannot put his right, back foot down and the leg is swollen. He is at the ...

Re: Possible strays in my garden. Need advice

There must surely be a local rescue with a volunteer or two who could do as Lilith suggests? This has made me realise how lucky I am living here in NI. I know that if needed there is a network of people who could do such a thing - and they are not even cat lovers! It's just something you do for a fr...
