Re: my cat died today, it was my fault
Hi, hope you are ok and starting to see how that this wasn't your fault it was just one of those things. It's so hard loosing a pet and even when it's through old age or ill health there will always be something we beat ourselves up over that we could have done differently. It was a terrible acciden...

Re: Feeling terrible - tormented my cat and not helped him :
I know exactly how you feel, we felt terrible over the stress we caused Jess with the first couple of vets visits we had. He was a little feral kitten we'd been feeding for a couple of months and gradually luring further round the side of the house into the kitchen. On the day of his first vet visit...

Re: BUTCHERS CLASSIC TINNED FOOD ? HOW GOOD IS IT PLEASE ?
The large Tesco and Morrisons near me both sell Butchers, as do Wilkinsons. Lidl had the Coshida in again! I bought the lot...then felt a bit guilty in case I'm not the only one with hungry fussy cats! It seems to come into the shop as packs with 5 gravy boxes and 5 jelly boxes, so presumably they c...

Re: BUTCHERS CLASSIC TINNED FOOD ? HOW GOOD IS IT PLEASE ?
Butchers food is good, but mine won't eat it, probably because it comes out of a tin not a sachet  Mama Cass eats it. I occasionally put some down with Mika and Jess to have another go (they used to really like it) but it mostly gets flipped about and pounced on. I wish they would eat it, no c...

Re: How can I prevent my cat from going to the toilet inside
I prefer my cats to use an indoor tray so I know that they are not using my neighbours gardens. They're my cats so it's my responsibility to clean up after them. I hate other cats using my garden as a toilet. It's also good from a health point of view, you will notice any change in their habits and ...

Re: My two cats dont eat much !!
Well you have a point there, I think most of us have found that that's a problem with cats, they're too blooming fussy. I've always had dogs before so this was a bit of a surprise to me, I just thought you could give them any cat food and even if they turn their nose up at first give them an hour an...

Re: My two cats dont eat much !!
As long as they don't look too thin I'm sure they are fine, especially as they have the option to eat more if they want. Maybe in this cold weather they are less active and snuggled up in the warm so need less energy? You could keep a track of their weight every month so you know they are not loosin...

Re: Food-fussy feral
The little monkey; I did a test today. This morning she got 30g of the usual food with some meat on but I also added a bit of extra gravy from the boys breakfast and a bit of water, stirred it all round and fed her that, she polished it off except a few bits of biscuit. Tonight I gave her 30g Royal ...

Re: Food-fussy feral
She's the fattest feral I've ever seen, mostly fluff I imagine but she has very chunky ankles, she can certainly go a day or two of being picky without suffering. We've seen her eating rats in the garden too (a month or two ago) so it could be that she's still hunting while the weather is fairly mil...

Food-fussy feral
Mama Cass has gone off her food. We were feeding her 30g biscuits twice a day with a little meat on top on a morning (less slugs about than on an evening). This week she had decided to only eat the meat. I feel bad not offering an alternative, but I don't really want to go down that route with any o...

Re: Feeding cat boiled chicken
I've thought about blending normal cat meat with a bit of water in to see if they like that. They won't eat mushed up meat or pate though (only tried a pate yesterday, most of it got spread around the hall and up the stairs and dived on, great fun, for Mika at least, not much eating went on) so it w...

Re: Feeding cat boiled chicken
I have two gravy lickers! I'd definitely buy it!
Mika will at least go back for the shrivelled up dry bits of meat later, Jess only eats biscuits and licks gravy.

We cut it into small chunks before freezing or cooking it, then it cooks really quickly. Just cut a couple of chunks in half and check it's not still pink in the middle.

Re: Is it wrong to keep a cat indoors?
You will probably get lots of opposing views posted in reply. Some peope on here do have house cats, some (like mine) with access to outdoor runs which I guess will be impossible in a flat. Some rescues won't home cats as indoor only, don't let that put you off though, some will. A really nice thing...

Mika's breath is sometimes a bit funky but since it's not all the time I've never thought much of it. If your vet has checked him out then hopefully you are just worrying for nothing. x

Re: Did the cat take a lick?
Lynn that reply has made me laugh! Cats mouths and dogs mouths are full of nasty bugs, but unless you have a compromised immune system or they are licking an open wound you should be fine. I'd probably chuck stuff if they'd had a good go at it but a quick suspected lick I'd probably just wipe it or ...

Re: Any know very well about persian cats color genetic here
The others have put it more eloquently then I did! I'm not saying I think breeding cats is immoral - as some will know I have a pedigree cat myself. However this is a rescue forum and I know some of the people here will have that opinion because for every cat bred that's another potential rescue hom...

Re: Any know very well about persian cats color genetic here
Plus, you have to remember, breeders need to earn a living too. I think most people on a cat rescue forum will think that making a living from breeding cats is immoral. There are other ways to earn a living, nobody has to breed cats or dogs to survive. Some people will of course choose to buy a ped...

Re: LACTULOSE FROM PHARMACIST - IS THIS SAFE FOR BARNEY PLEA
Hi, sorry I've not been on CC for a while so I've just seen this. Max used to get constipated quite often and we used lactulose from the chemist, this is what our vet recommended to us. I think it's quite sweet so cats either like it or don't (Max luckily did). I can't remember but I think we put 0....

Do you feed the garden birds?
I've stopped feeding the birds all summer as Mama Cass caught a couple and I didn't want to lure more into the garden to encourage her, especially not any fledglings. Now its getting cold I'm undecided whether to buy a load more bird food or not - do people think it keeps more birds alive than she w...

The other thing, as someone else has said is they are very messy, but they hoover up easily.

Re: Is a stray cat ok to give to an elderly person?
I don't think most rescue cats have been abused, most have probably abandoned when the owners move house, have children of the novelty wears off :( Our first cats were from the Blue Cross, they were 8 years old and their owner had died. They still had a lot of love to give but were much more settled...
