Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(

Nature's Menu and Lily's Kitchen are also cereal free but more expensive, some of the Hi-Life varieties are also free but I'm not sure which ones. As are the Sheba Classic Terrines (in a foil tray but they do several varieties in a foil tray so make sure you pick up the right ones), also the Sheba T...

Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(

Maybe something like Butchers Classic, I know it's cereal free but I'm not sure else is in it. It's cheap and available in most supermarkets..

Re: introducing cats to new home

I would say 3-4 weeks before you let them out, they need to have a strong sense of where home is which they won't have after a few days.

Re: Lumps on ears and bald patch on hind leg

Some cats are becoming to resistant to Frontline (there's been a few articles about it recently) so try getting a treatment from your vet instead, that should sort them out.

Re: Edgar update

The Butchers Classic is cereal free and inexpensive, it doesn't have to be prescription food. When I asked about the cereal free diet my vet didn't have enough experience to comment on it, so I took what I'd read on Dr Addie's website and went from there.

Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(

I don't have any experience other than dealing with Cystitis in one of my furries but she is a stress head. In my mind it makes sense to feed good quality wet with added water over dry as the liquid will help keep things flushed through, if he doesn't have crystals that need breaking down perhaps a ...

Re: Edgar update

Has the vet said what the problems with his gums is? Is it FGS? I have two cats with this virus and found the best thing was to remove the majority of the teeth plus feed them on a cereal free diet. They just have the tiny front teeth and canines left. The virus reacts to the sugars found in cereals...

He's probably teething, he's the right age! If you look closely you'll probably start to see tiny teeth on the floor!

Noodley went missing for a few hours a couple of weeks ago, I think she'd been caught by her collar somewhere, it took about 10 days to get her confidence back and for her to return to her normal patrolling routine.

Re: Skittish, aggressive kitten

How old was she when she was removed from her mum? Does she spend long periods on her own? I do think another cat of a similar age may help her, so she has another furry to let off steam with and learn some boundaries. I rescued a poorly socialised kitten when she was 6 weeks old which was way too e...

I don't have any experience with the thyroid but Antirobe is a very effective antibiotic for teeth and gums, two of my furries have had very good results with it.

Re: Third eye problem

Unfortunately URI and eye infections are symptoms of the cat flu virus and often go together, if the eye problems have been going on for more than a couple of days you probably need to get something from the vet to help clear it up.

Re: poorly kitten

Given that there are now kittens involved the rescues may reconsider, I would call them again. Do you have a Blue Cross or PDSA near you? The poorly kitten really needs to see a vet asap, could you take it and see if they'll treat it if you explain the situation to them?

Re: Taking on a frightened cat..

I'd also keep her indoors for some considerable time, she's too frightened to be let out now and needs to have a strong sense of where home is and that it's somewhere safe that she wants to return too. I'm sure the Bailey you once knew will return in time, it's just going to take time and patience. ...

Re: Taking on a frightened cat..

I wouldn't force contact and let Bailey set the pace. It sounds as though they've had a very stressful time of late so just let her initiate contact with you when she's ready. Keep going into their room, sit on the floor and talk to them, read aloud from a book so they get used to your voice. Offer ...

When you let him out for the first time, do it when he's hungry so he has a reason to come back. Try and train him to respond to you rattling a treat tin so he associates coming back with good things. As Val says don't make a big deal out of it, just potter around in the garden and let him explore a...
