This delightful boy (very definitely an unneutered male (has arrived at our 'Cat Cafe' for feeding every day since 28th Feb. He was initially very scared but ravenous. Now not so scared of us, but scared of coming indoors and has had a couple of run-ins with our Tom (who is neutered but very large and territorial) and of course being unneutered he's very unwelcome...

Looking to catch him ASAP and get him microchip checked - if you think he's your boy and he's chipped please let me know.

I will look after him and feed him regardless - although I already have 5 rescued babies I would never turn away a needy kitty...

Be cautious when catching him. Some cats are really aggressive when held by strangers and can bite or scratch with their claws. Just take care. The cat may also have some illness that your cat can also catch if they interact.

Sorry, MikeTrump1, but I really don't think it's helpful to post such comments on a cat rescue forum. We want to try and help as many cats as possible, not demonise them as potentially aggressive or disease-carrying! All cats that go outdoors will meet an assortment of cats that may or may not carry diseases - taking one in will make little difference to the resident cats in that way. And yes of course one should be careful with any strange cat that might be frightened, in any circumstance.

I don't mean to be harsh, but I think you should have given your post a little more thought! :)

Well done Jacks, and I hope you do manage to get this boy home. :) xx

Thanks Crewella - and Mike, I know you meant well! I established after two weeks that I could pick this lad up without him even extending his claws - so after the statuatory period and collar & paper tag, advertising him locally and nationally, contacting RSPCA and local rescues (who forwarded his details) and no-one coming forward - I picked him up, popped him in a carrier and kept him overnight in a 'safe room' before taking to the vet. Let out in an enclosed room he panicked initially and tried to get out, so we left him with nice bolt-hole, litter tray and food, for a couple of hours. Came back and petted him and WHAM! Purrring, loving, desperate affection and trying to get as close as possible. He even holds my fingers with his paws. This boy was desperately hungry and desperate to be loved.

Trip to the vet showed no chip, so he's chipped now - and neutered - and I've adopted him - and named him Bobby. My four girls are sniffing interestedly at his door and listening to his cries for company when he gets lonely. Not a single hiss from anyone. This lad has never hissed at me, spat, growled or extended his claws. His little face is scarred from battle wounds and they reckon he's about 4 years old and has fought over quite a few females in his time. Otherwise he's healthy, no diseases, not even any fleas, but not used to being in a home anymore. He will get there, though. He'll have all the love he craves from now on. My challenges will be Sophie, the dominant female - so she needs to accept him, and he to accept her as boss - and my enormous ex-wild male Mr Socks. But 'Socksie' is a bully, so a coward at heart - and he's already gone up to Bobby when he was outside and wailed and postured over him. The little lad just sat there, and Mr Socks backed off, looking nonchalant and spraying around a bit to save face... So I'm hopeful that if Bobby stands his ground they'll work things out.

So lost cat i's now officially rehomed - with me! Here's one who definitely chose us for a home! Better change my status to 6 cats!

Oh Jacks, that's great news ....... I had a feeling things might be heading that way! ;)

Congrats, and I hope Mr Socks does accept the newbie ..... he's not a stupid cat and he knows which side his bread is buttered on, so I've a feeling he will. All paws crossed that Madam Sophie will gracefully accept a new subject in her domain.

More pics of Bobby as he settles in, please. He does have a lovely little face! :)

...... and I'm sorry if I came on a bit strong, Mike, I know you meant well too! :)

Well here we have Bobby - having a little snuggle in his 'safe' room, and then yesterday evening - his first day out of the safe room - relaxing in Mr Sock's spot on the sofa!

He is quite a vocal little lad, doing a lot of male calling, although this has settled a bit today - it's a week tomorrow since he had his operation. The girls have been really good, and even Sockie looked at him across the kitchen this morning and then went back to eating his food. Sophie has put him in his place a couple of times, and Phoebe and Jessie have hissed if he got too close, but neither seem too bothered. Lara is fascinated by him but scared and at one point she was looking round the bedroom door at him nervously and he suddenly shot after her, and she ran under the bed, out the other side and down the stairs to the top of the cat tree - with a blinding speed. This is her tactic to get away from Sockie. She's a true all-black ninja. Bobby emerged from the bedroom after her, realising he'd been duped, to find that Sophie had shot up the stairs and was barring his way (her modus operandi with Socksie). He backed off pretty quick. Sophie had her hackles up and there is just something about her - they all know she's the Queen.

So after only 6 days in the safe room he's doing really well and I'm just hoping things will settle between him and Lara. She went upstairs to see him this morning and I heard black cat screaming (both he and Lara make the same noise, funnily) and went up to see Lara standing in the bedroom doorway looking in and found Bobbie hiding under the bed, mewing. So just maybe she's found he's not as tough as Socksie...

He certainly looks like he has his paws well and truly under the table! :D

Sounds like a promising start, I hope he settles in smoothly. You never can tell - I was so worried about settling in Paddington when he arrived, especially as he'd not been through the outdoor pen stage that most of mine have gone through, which gives the others a chance to get a good look at them, but within the week he was on nose-touching terms with everyone and even Grumpy Nellie likes him! :D

He does sound like a nice boy with good cat manners, so all paws here crossed for him. xx

Gosh, if only my black stray (oddly enough also named Bobby  ) would have been as well behaved, he'd still be with me - but he hated my gang and whenever possible had a go at them. So with a heavy heart I took him to CP as they had a pen that became available. Thankfully he was rehomed within a week and is now very settled and very happy. But he just didn't like it at my house

Wishing you and your Bobby and the rest of your feline gang many happy years together x

Thank you, honeychild! My husband seriously hopes they will (stop coming that is)!

4 weeks today since we caught him and 3 weeks since we started 'integration' and it's not going too badly. Lara is scared of him, although he hasn't actually hurt her, because he does like to chase her - especially when she growls at him; but she gives him a good run for his money and although he's fast and young we don't call her ‘slinky-winky’ and ‘ninja kitty’ for nothing. After all her trouble with Socksie she's like a little pocket rocket. He'll chase Jessie too, when she starts creeping round and growling. At first she was running hissing and yowling in terror, but now she just gets out of his way as quickly as possible. However I think its boisterousness rather than aggression - he doesn't behave like a 4-year-old - more like a 2-year-old. He wants a good chase. He also finds other cats growling at him a real wind-up - and Lara, again, growls, snarls and swears like a trooper. It really gets his blood up... Poor Lara, you can't reason with a cat! :o

Bobby's favourite thing is for me to chase him up the stairs, and he dashes up and on to the banisters to greet me with head-butts. He wants Phoebe to chase and play with him but she doesn't like chase... She's not scared of him, though, and gives him a hiss and a whack and he backs off. Sophie has quickly established her superiority with a little bit of intimidation - he knows she's the boss and doesn't even try to eat out of any of the food bowls in the kitchen after she sat passively and let him just about get his first mouthful before flying over and whacking him round the head a couple of times with no warning. He knows now not to cross her! But she's content to have him around now that he's stopped stinking like a 'Tom' and has acknowledged her leadership. Socksie was scared of him initially (and the Tom smell) but is beginning to assert himself as chief male, just by not being the one to back off when they're in the same room - i.e. coming in and eating his food ignoring Bobby, who is also in the kitchen. No fisticuffs or anything, it's all about posturing and body language here.

As it took Jessie and Lara 6 weeks + to stop growling and hissing at Phoebe when she arrived I'm hopeful things will be okay. He's an adorable, playful and loving little lad and if only Lara could relax and see that he just wants a chase they could both have their needs for crazy charging around the house satisfied. At the moment she sees him as a cross between her doppelganger and the devil incarnate, but he's never hurt her (unlike Socksie in his 'Tom' days) so I'm hopeful she'll see he's not an enemy in time. :)

Oh yes - Bobby likes his room so much, and Lara needs her bedtime 'milkies', so Bobby spends the night very happily in his 'safe room'. He waits for me to take supper up, which he races me for, then to pop in when I actually go to bed with a few 'Lily's Kitchen' treats. Then he's as good as gold until morning, when he hears my voice, then he calls for breakfast - which he'll only eat in his room. He'll have biscuits and treats in the lounge but prefers to have his food in his room where no-one will bother him. He's got a nice little room with a big window and window ledge; litter tray, water, food, surface to climb on, bed with toys and a scratch house, scratch post and a number of 'caves' so I think at the moment this is the best option overnight. Socksie always sleeps in the back of the house at night once he's had his supper too, so the girls have the run of the rest. It works for us and they like their routines.

Nice update, it does sound as though things are gradually settling down. After the introduction of Mr Socks, this sounds like a relative doddle! ;)
