stray with cracked ribs
A while ago i posted a query about a stray cat we had found. We have finally managed to get the cat scanned for a micro chip but it doesnt have one. We have also now discovered that the cat has cracked ribs. We are not sure on the extent of the injury as we havent been able to get him to a vet yet. We are not sure how to proceed. Obviously he needs to go to a vet but are concerned about what treatment he will need. We still not have been able to locate his owner and without insurance we may not be able to afford any major treatment. Would it now be best to just hand him over to a rescue place?

Definitely needs vet advice re: treatment ASAP. Did the vets x-ray? Depending on the extent of the damage he may just need cage rest and metacam. As a stray I understand RSPCA will pay for initial diagnostics and pain relief to some limited amount. Once vet gives you estimate of costs involved you can make decision as to whether to keep him or take to rescue.
