We have a two year old male cat. We are urgently looking for a new home for our cat Mickey.
I have tried every animal charity and friends plus family but nobody can't take him in and have run out of all choices, he is bullying my two female cats to the point they are too scared of him and run and hide every time they see him from a distance, he pins them down and bully's them to the point I see it and scares me as I can't stop him. he is very sweet towards people and should be rehomed as an only cat in the household but I don't want an healthy cat to be PTS when all I ask is for your help PLEASE

Hey there Avana,

Has Mickey been neutered? It sounds like he's trying to prove his dominance around the house. Is he also getting enough attention? The cats that are most ignored tend to be the ones that make the biggest bullies. I'd make a fuss of your boy each time you come home. Give him chin rubs, brush him (if he likes that) and perhaps give him extra treats. Show him you love him before the others and that'll give him pride around the house.

Rescue centres are really hard up at the moment. We've had post after post from people citing the same thing.

Did your cats always get along before, and this is a new thing? Or is Mickey a new cat? Introductions are very important in the cat community so if you didn't introduce them properly you may need to take a step back and read some guides to help you re-intergrate the whole family. You may even need to start from scratch on whoever is the newest.
If they've always got along before you need to think about what has changed. Did you move house? Is there a new cat in the neighbourhood? Anything at all could be important if Mickey has suddenly changed his behaviour.

I urge you not to give away Mickey before you've considered all the options. He sounds like a lovely cat, and deserves a seond chance. Sadly we've reached that time of year where a lot of people think vacations are more important than pet ownership. Most sanctuarys are full until the Christmas rush starts up again. A lot of the people here are also full to the brim with rescues at the moment because of bad owners.

Again, I urge you to try and read up on cat bullying via google. A lot of cats do it, especially younger ones who want a high place in the hierarchy before they've earned it. You just need to teach them better ways. It's not easy and not always viable, but it's worth a good hard try before you give up on Mickey.
