Help! We desperately need a new home for my mother in laws 10 year old tabby in the North Notts/South Yorks/Lincs area. She's had to sell her house and is moving into rented accommodation where she cant have any animals. As of this weekend Daisy has no-where to go and we don't know what to do! We thought we had a home arranged but it fell through and are now desperate.

Daisy is actually a boy, the pet shop where he was bought from as a kitten thought it was a girl but by the time his bits started growing the name had stuck!
I have tried contacting a number of local shelters but have either had no response or they are full.
He's been neutered and has been flea'd/wormed and all the usual.

If anyone can help or knows someone that might we would be so grateful to hear from you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Richard.

Hello and sorry to hear that you are having to rehome Daisy.

Before you do, please, please check personally with the landlord. My sister is a landlady and stipulates no pets, but that was on the advice of the letting agent and she will in fact have animals in the house. Sometimes landlords say no pets just to give them a choice to say no if they think the animals are unsuitable for the property, ie a huge dog and small or no garden. You may find that your mother in law can in fact keep Daisy after all.

Offer to have the carpets professionally cleaned and any damage, if any, made good at the end of the lease. Just talk to the landlord. Good luck.

Hi, Scatty's right - in many cases this rule is very often due to the landlord's concern about pets ruining their carpets or furnishings.

However, there is lots of advice and information here which may help you persuade the landlord otherwise:

May be worth a try? Best of luck!

It's worth arguing your case with your landlord, my landlord said no to my two original cats but my letting agents actually argued my case for me. I paid a slightly higher deposit and agreed to correct any damage they caused when I left plus have the carpets cleaned and flea treated. It's always worth having a go at changing their minds.

I rent my flat and have 4. It is worth asking landlord directly as mine said yes when I did this...
