Befast-Urgent: little adorable cat looks for holiday house

Hello,
I am French, studying at Queens University in Belfast. Last week, I have found in front of my door a little cat very sick and starving. I have taken him with me although it is forbidden where I live (student house) and I have brought him to the vet where he got antibiotics, treatment against worms and fleas. After one week with us (me and my flatmate), he is feeling much better and I must say that I fell in love with him. He is approximately 6 months old, very affectionate and very cute, fond of games and cuddling sessions. I have called him Leo and I consider bringing him home with me when I leave in june. But for the moment, I have a big issue : I am looking for a place for him during Eastern Holidays. I am leaving from the 3rd of april to the 23rd of april and I cannot take him (a trip planned since a long time). Therefore, I am looking for a nice foster home during this period. I will provide the food, the litter, the toys and whatever needed. I plan to do his vaccinations next week.
Could you help me, please, to find a loving family for him during this period ?

Hi Anne,

Thanks for taking care of this cat. 20 days isn't a huge amount of time. Have you considered a cattery? You could also try locals vets and Cats Protection to see if they have any contacts who might be able to help.

I understand that it would be better for him to be looked after in a home, but some catteries are excellent - again, worth speaking to your vets about.

Thanks a lot, I've just got a positive answer from one of my PhD colleagues at Queens...working on animal rights... I am sure he will be well treated.

I did not know a lot about cats so far (I used to have dogs) but they are great. I reall love my little leo.

Anne, well done for looking after this little guy. Please do get Leo neutered as soon as you can, ie once he's healthy enough. Age wise he's old enough now and he (and you) will be so much happier once he's been neutered. It'll stop him from roaming around, getting into fights, spraying etc.

Hi everybody,,
I come back to you for some help. I am facing a new issue this week.... As I told you, I found a colleague who was ok to take care of Leo while I am away. But these last days, the sky has been a bit falling onto my head : I had a spot on my hand. I thought it was a flea bite so I have been treating Leo again with Frontline. Actually, it has been growing and it proved to be a ringworm spot (...) I went to the vet yesterday and she could not find anything on him. It means that he maybe had it when I found him ( because of a weak immune system) but that he recovered from it. But it can also means that he is part of the very very few animals who have it without symptoms. We start anyway the preventive treatment against that today. The problem is that my colleague will probably do not want him anymore ( and no cattery as well).

What I find a bit strange is that since I found Leo ( 1 month ago now), I have been sleeping with him. He was even sleeping into my arms and resting on my shoulder during the whole night ( and I don't talk about the kisses...). And I have only one spot on the hand. Whereas my flatmate, who has never been sleeping with him, always keeping some distance with him and her door closed, is covered with spots. So I am wondering if it could not come from her ( she goes very often to the swimming pool) and it could have been spread through kitchen towels. It is just an hypothesis as I find the situation a bit puzzling (I mean the fact that Leo does not have any symptom). Don t know what you think about that, would you have any idea or recommendation as my situation is quite desperate ( I leave tmrw for Germany and would need someone from next monday on)
