Looking for a mouser, Bristol

Hi, I guess this is a long shot, but I’ve been asked if I could help my niece find a cat looking for a forever home as a mouser/ stable cat in the Bristol area. They have had a cat at the stables for around 10 years, but have recently had to say goodbye to their resident mouser.
The stables is in Bristol and there are 2 horses and a pony there, I think. They are missing the old cat that kept the mice away and are looking for a cat to take over the role. They would be happy with a single cat, or even a pair. They can offer a dry, warm space for the cat to curl up and snooze, regular food and human contact ( if the cat wants a fuss), but would welcome a cat that prefers their own company to humans.
Has anyone any ideas or tips on how to find such a cat needing a home as a stable cat…also, tips on how to introducing a new cat to this type of home, much appreciated.
I hope it’s okay to ask for advice here…local rescues don’t seem to have anything suitable
Thankyou

Have you tried Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue? They were so brilliant, helpful and non-judgemental when I contacted them with a long list of requirements, they really do try to find you a match even in less than ideal circumstances, and are very kind.

Hi Kittycatcrazy+2,

Thanks for posting on behalf of your niece.

The following pages on the main Cat Chat site might be useful for you, if you haven’t already seen them:

Cat Chat’s Feral Cats information page, which includes a ‘Rural / Outdoor Homes Needed’ section with useful advice on adopting feral/farm cats and helping them to acclimatise to their new environment: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/about-feral-cats

Cat Chat’s Cats Needing Homes section, which will enable you to search for adoptable cats in your niece’s area: https://www.catchat.org/adopt

Cat Chat’s Feral / Farm Cats: Adoption, Help & Relocation page, which contains a list of rescue and rehoming organisations who are known to help with feral/farm cats and may therefore have feral/farm cats available for adoption: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cats/feral-farm-cats

Please note that this list is not exhaustive and there may be other organisations in your niece’s area who can help - see Cat Chat’s general shelters list for Bristol & Avon here: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-r ... istol-avon

The following organisations deal specifically with feral cats, so it might be worth contacting them for advice, and they may also have contacts in your niece’s area:

Cat Action Trust 1977 (feral cat charity): http://www.cat77.org.uk

Original Cat Action Trust (feral cat charity): http://www.catactiontrust.org.uk

You could also try the Cats Protection Helpline: 03000 12 12 12

Hope that helps, and best of luck with your search!
