Indoor kitten wanted as companion

Hello
I have a deaf rescue tabby who is around a year old. He's an absolute sweetie and is very active. He has to be kept indoors because of his deafness but I do take him outside with a harness. I work from home so I am with him most of the time but when he was in a cattery before I adopted him he got along with the other cats and I really think he would benefit from a friend. Because of his deafness and level of activity I thought a kitten or very young cat would be ideal as a friend for him. I am concerned that an older will struggle to communicate with him and he also needs an active friend to play with.
I have tried numerous rescue centres but nobody will rehome a kitten to an indoor home, even if I will take it outside for walks. I find it upsetting and quite crazy. I understand that statistically indoor cats live longer because they are not subject to the many dangers they can encounter outside. I know in many countries it is quite normal to keep your cat inside and they are still happy and healthy. I have even heard of vets abroad advising people to keep their cats inside because it's so much safer.
If anyone can help with finding a young friend for my baby boy, I would be very grateful. I have a fairly large 2 bed flat and I don't feel my cat wants for anything. I basically have a large cat crèche and my life revolves around Crispin. I can offer a great home to a younger cat, even without a garden.
Thanks!
