I recently adopted a new 2 yr old male cat full of energy and fun.
My older female cat does not want to play and hisses and growls when ever he goes near her.
He follows her all the time, and won't leave her alone.
They are both neutered.
How can I get my male to respect her 'space' without skin and hair flying?
Any tips on how to get two cats to live in harmony!

I had the same issues with a kitten I adopted recently. Try to keep your new boy amused with plenty of interactive toys, especially around your girl. Eventually she will probably realise that merely hissing and growling isn't getting the message across and give him a good smack. One of them is going to have to be 'top cat' and its something they need to sort out between themselves, unfortunately it could mean some batting paws!. In the meantime please try to stay relaxed, cats are incredibly perceptive and if you are getting stressed and anxious every time they're together now chances are they will too!

We have a 1 1/2 year old female cat, and have recently introduced a now 11 week old kitten. I'm interested by your comment of them picking up on our stress levels because we do get worried that the big one will hurt the kitten when she swipes at it, and the kitten just wants to pounce on the big girl!
I worry a lot that we're not spending as much time with our older cat, that she feels rejected and stressed herself.
