Feline constipation and how the gut works

Post by Crewella »

I'm sure some of you know this already, but I was researching 'cat poo' and stumbled over this website - it gave me such a great understanding of how the gut and digestion works, even though I wasn't researching constipation specifically it was very helpful!

Thanks Helen, I had seen it before, but always looking for more info. I know some laxatives and enenmas can be really dangerous for cats.

And for the record, I would never recommend stimulant laxatives to anyone!!!!

Iwould never risk it, but the practice manager next door told me that a former practice cat duffered from constipation and the head vet gave him a whole Senokot once a week  - I guess that was beofre safer things came along. I only ever use Miralax (Polyethylene Glycol 3350)
