PSYILLIUM HUSK POWDER DOSAGE HELP PLEASE
Hi all.....I have just got Barney some Psyllium husk powder to add to his wet food, due to his occasional constipation issues...does anyone have any idea on what would be the best dosage to start to add to his food...at the moment I have given him literally a tiny amount in his food, maybe a 1/10th of a teaspoon which he is fine with...?....x

I've been up to half a teaspoon in a day but not gone beyond that.

Many thanks for your response, its been a problem every now and then, which lasts about 24 hours, in which he is in a lot of pain and causes me great upset, as well as him, touch wood, he has picked up at the moment because of the additions to his diet. I am also giving him a small amount of raw meat with his usual food each night which does appear tyo help too.

Re: PSYILLIUM HUSK POWDER DOSAGE HELP PLEASE
I've just taken on a kitten with what the vet thinks is the start of mega colon and I tried the pysllium with him but he had explosive diarrhea. So he's now on Hills w/d which seems to be ok but he still struggles with opening his bowels and often walks away with it still attached to his bum. I am thinking a raw diet might be worth trying.

I think with the Psyllium Husk, espaecially for a kitten, the dose has to be very, very small and given gradually, Barney is a fully grown adult and I started literally with a tiny, tiny sprinkle, to be honest, the Miralax powder seems to keep him 'regular' without upsetting his stomach, I also cook a fresh carrot, mash it up, then put a little bit in his food each evening as well, this seems to help.Cat Rescue UK wrote:I've just taken on a kitten with what the vet thinks is the start of mega colon and I tried the pysllium with him but he had explosive diarrhea.
