Cat vomited maggots - Ugggh!

Post by Liz42 »

My cat vomited large brown maggots today - fortunately they were all dead. Checked feeding bowls and all clean. They were definitely not the cat round worms and looking on Google they looked like blue bottle maggots.

The vomit was just cat food with no feathers or bones etc.

Has anyone experienced this and do you know what causes it. Cats are fine and have not vomited since. Should I take to vet or do anything else??

uggh!

Blue bottle fly maggots are pale whitish larvae, but change to brown cocoons.

Does your cat go outside? if so they could have found some cat food that had been left outside or meat of any description ! as it only takes a very short time for the pesky maggots to hatch from laid eggs but if they looked like cocoons more, the decaying meat would be a few days old.

Sure others on here may have advice

Has your cat been fine since? or are they showing any unusual symptoms?

If the little one belonged to me I would most certainly contact the vet for advice.
