Cat cold

My fluff bomb Treacle had a cold on the weekend. She seems fine now with her appetite back. How long does it normally take for a cat to get over a cold and how do they catch it in the first place? She is not very social with other cats and although she does go out, it's not very often. She is up to date with her jabs.

I suspect cats get little viruses like this just the way we do, some last longer or are more noticeable than others. But as cats are programmed not to show illness, very often all we see of it is a bit of sluggish behaviour.

However, snuffly noses can suggest allergies, cat flu or calici virus. Make sure your cat's flu jabs are up to date, and if not, get her done . If her symptoms persist, take her to the vet for a check up. As I said, it's unusual for snuffling and sneezing to be noticeable, so they're best not ignored.
