Should I introduce a kitten?

Post by KittyKate »

I have a 5 year old British Shorthair girl. She has always been timid and nervous but we have a good settled routine and relationship. I have the chance to home a boy kitten from Cat Protection League. I'm torn as I'd love to provide a safe loving home for the boy but am concerned that my girl may be adversely affected in the long term. Thoughts please?

It's a difficult one, as it might be wonderful, or she might hate him. I do think a male is probably your best bet, and she's still young enough not to be too overwhelmed by having a youngster about the place. Personally, I'd be tempted to go for it, but it would help if you know a bit more about the little boy, is he sociable by nature, or is he too young to tell?
