Is Antirobe easy to hide in food

Post by meriad »

Monty has a 5 day course of Antirobe for an abscess. It's only one a day for the five days so should be easy enough, but obviously if I can hide it in his food then I'd rather go down that less stressful route. They're capsules so it would be very easy to mix in with something like lick-e-lix....

any thoughts?

I've always mixed it in food, it has to be stored in the fridge and apparently tastes less the colder it is

Thanks for that - just put it into the fridge. Fingers crossed he'll take it without a hassle tonight; that will make things so much easier :D

If he's reluctant, try smelly fish like sardines or tuna as a mixer

I didn't know about the fridge - hope that does the trick! :)

just to update - putting in the fridge didn't make a jot of different; Monty looked at everything I put in front of him with utter distrust after I tried mixing it with lick-e-lix  so I had to resort to the good old 'straight down the hatch' route which worked just fine and he yesterday got the all clear from the vet

Harry on the other hand - he happily licked up all the lick-e-lix with the antirobe in it.... daft boy

One of my oldies had to have antirobe occasionally for her teeth and I used to break open the capsules and add the powder to a drop of cat milk.

Sod's law, Harry will probably never need antirobe in his lifetime! :D

Glad you got it down Monty, though. xx
