i am looking for some advice. i am new to cats (7 days of experience!). A colleague of mine found a stray cat had given birth to 4 little kittens in her garden. She took them in and looked after them for 9 weeks.
She wanted to find them all (including the mother) loving homes, so my husband and I agreed to take 2 and picked them up at just over 9 weeks last Friday. We took them or a check up to the vet on Monday to get their first innoculation and the vet noticed "dandruff" on them, but wasn't sure if it was a parasite. Given their weight, she wasn't overly keen to give them anything too strong, so used a spray on them to alleviate the infestation.
Since then though, the mites have got worse and reading up on what it may be, i am worried that the mites are all over the house (and they live for 10 days away from the host), so if we treat the kittens as soon as they are big enough, the mites could be all over the house and reinfest them
can anyone help in how to combat this? and when we can treat them properly? the vet gave us pestigon(?) will that do the trick?Thanks in advance
