I need help

Post by jessicaclark »

Hello everybody,

I'm new here to the forum and I have only just logged on, hoping that maybe someone is online and can help. Well, I guess I just wanted to get an occupational therapy for me.

The problem is this: Since about 2 weeks, my cat feels Timo (10 years) bad.

He runs abnormally, eats little, hiding a lot and has frequently an attack. The vet could not say with certainty what he has and I must confess that I had to decline for financial reasons an MRI. If I had the money I would do it immediately, but unfortunately it is not.

The assumption was then that it what is inflammatory in the brain and he scored antibiotics. They have unfortunately not helped. Blood values were normal. The doctor told me now, it is possible that it is a tumor.

At the beginning I was still calm, I knew that it quickly passes. But with every attack I'm nervous. And I do not know what to do now. After the attack should be the cat calm down, yes, but he just wants to have his peace. Maybe you'll have any tips I can do my hangover good what I have not yet read on the Internet somewhere.

Best wishes,
Jessy

Hi Jessy

I'm so sorry to hear your cat is not well. Unfortunately, I can't really understand from your post what it is you're asking for.

Given that, I'm afraid all I can tell you is to love your cat right now. Offer love and affection when they want it, and wait for the results to come back. Your cat needs you to be strong right now and that's going to help you to stay strong for yourself as well.

I'm so sorry that your cat is not well. If you cannot go the route of scans then I guess the best you can do is to try to treat the symptoms and make him comfortable. You cay antibiotics do not seem to have helped, did the vet give any form of pain relief and anti-inflammatory? Perhaps that might be something to discuss, to make sure he is not suffering in any way?

I'm afraid your puss sounds very poorly from what you describe. Really only a scan or x-ray will reveal what the problem is, and what is the most likely prognosis and best treatment, and if you can find a way to raise the money, it would be worth it both for your sake, as you clearly care very much for your cat, and for your cat's health and wellbeing. But at the very least, if the antibiotics aren't helping, I agree that it would be worth trying pain relief, such as metacam, to see if that can make him more comfortable. Whatever you do, don't use medications intended for humans, such as paracetamol, which is highly poisonous to cats. Try different foods such as a little tuna with spring water (you need to keep him hydrated as well as fed), cooked white fish or chicken (also with a little of the water you cooked them in - no bones though), as these are easily digestible, or warming up his food very slightly in the microwave, which makes it more palatable.
