Hairball control food.

Post by Casskie »

Hi.
I have been feeding my indoor cats Iams hairball control dry food for about 6 weeks and they love it. I ran out a couple of days ago and went back to using general iams dry food until I can get more of the hairball one.
Anyway, one of my cats was sick several times today and brought up quite a large fur ball. I'm now wondering whether the hairball control food was keeping the hairball down or it has been helping her digest the fur and the lack of hairball control food caused her to sick the hairball up.

Has anyone had any experiences with their cats and the hairball control food?
Any advice is welcome :)

I am not sure about Iams, as Tilly won't touch it, but most hairball control diets apparently work by easing the passage of the fur through the cats gut. Tilly used to get furballs quite often, about 1 a month on average, so none for 6 weeks may or may not be significant . I tend to rely on grooming and anti-hairball treats (Dreamies or Whiskas). I give her about 10 a day during the peak furball season, when she is molting. Seems to work most of the time.
