Is there flea treatments for humans?

Hi all,
I have a cat, she is all black with a white spot on her neck. She killed a mouse over a week ago and played with that dead mouse for a few hours while i was at work. I got home and was happy, without knowing the mouse had given my cat some fleas. So now, I have to deal with the blood sucking things.

My cat has been given advantage, and have ordered more of the orange stuff. So if cats have this luxury, why can't humans use it too?. Is it because we shower every day which would wash it out too quickly?. Seems like all we got is a vacuum and flea spray (IGR or Precor 2000 from my research so far). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Back in the '70s when flea treatment for cats was primitive, I had to resort to insect repellent as the little beggars ate me alive!

Trouble was I was working as a life (nude) model at a local art school, lumps and all. If someone somewhere has an ancient portfolio with sketches of a woman with spotty ankles, that's me. I also got some very funny looks in the chemist's where I went for supplies. Winter, in darkest Batley?

Decades on, I don't think there's anything else you can use but modern flea treatments for cats/houses are generally so good that the fleas will be zapped in no time; I do hope so, I'm starting to itch in sympathy with you, it's no fun.

Thank you. I'm ordering the Insect Growth Regulator stuff, so hopefully that will work. That's great to know though, thanks. I seriously hate fleas, and this came at the worst time.

It's doubtful eating a mouse has given your cat fleas, but it will almost certainly have given her worms, so you will need to treat her for those too.

She just killed the mouse and kept playing with it for hours, because when I got there it was already dead and I can't really predict how long ago she killed it but my only guess was at least 30 mins ago. According to Google, Mice are rich in fleas, I think worms are possible too, but the time frame matches up to exactly when we started having a flea problem, it only started 4 days ago, the mouse was found by me like about 6-7 days ago. It takes a bit for a flea infestation to form, I don't know, that's what I am thinking. Thanks for the suggestion though.

How do you treat your cat for worms?, is that a vaccine?. Thanks.

You need either a tablet or a spot on from the vet to treat your cat for worms.

The active ingredient in Broad line is Fipronyl which is what they think has stopped working in Frontline

We can't have fleas which have evolved resistance to Fipronyl round these parts, because it still works here!

You're lucky, I don't know a vet who still stocks it because of it being ineffective. I've heard of cats still having fleas after using Broad line too

If everything has failed for you guys just give Advantage a shot because it's not failing me. I know a vet assistant and she says Frontline sucks and Advantage is best.

Just using it on my cat right now, shows how effect it is. They won't bother her, though the fleas still jump on me when shes close to me, so with the belief that she will just be an all-round-flea-killing machine is not entirely accurate. But at least I don't have to worry about her getting eaten alive, I just have myself to worry about for now.

It's really only my legs, and the odd bite on my chest or arms. I have bought 6 cans of the the Flea spray in the CIL brand that has the Insect Growth Regulator ingredient, so I Should be good for awhile (I hope). Don't forget the benadryl. This is probably the worst experience with bugs that I have ever had.

Both Frontline and Broadline are still working for us, and anything else with Fipronil. I think the dosage is higher in Broadline than Frontline.

yea you can't say other stuff than Advantage just doesn't work, there's still a chance. But I just keep hearing positive feedback from Advantage so im sticking to that, thanks for sharing.
