Panting Kitten

Post by Grace56 »

I've just been outside in the garden with my niece's 15 week old kitten.
She was having a lovely time exploring but, I noticed she was panting like a dog. :o
I've never seen a cat or kitten do this before (and I thought I'd seen it all with cats) It is very warm out but as I say, it's a new one on me.

Agatha is very bold and playful, eats well, plays and is otherwise healthy.

Anyone else ever seen this before and is it normal?

Thanks folks,

Grace :)

Cats do pant when they're very hot, just nowhere near as readily as dogs do.

If I think I cat looks hot, I sometimes dip my hands in water and stroke them with wet hands, not to soak them but just to damp the top of the fur, so it can help to cool them as it evaporates.
