CRF Semintra & sickness.
Hi all.
Not been on here for a while as everything has been grand with my 2 boys.
Boris has CRF & has been on Semintra for quite a while. In the last month he's started being really sick once a week. All that comes up though is lots of clear fluid. Otherwise he's feeding really well on wet and dry food and is really happy in himself.
Does anyone else have a cat on Semintra that has similar issues. We think it is his meds as we've tried lots of different foods with the same results. The only thing we've not tried is stopping his CRF meds.
A vet check up is soon due but I'm wondering whether others have similar issues?

I'd get his blood checked in case, maybe the dose is too high?

I'd get to the vet sooner rather than later and get him checked out. Tommy had a few issues with Semintra.

He's been really sick again yesterday and again just now. I've got him booked to see Vet Steve at 4.40 today. Boris is looking really miserable this afternoon so the sooner we get him checked out the better.

Re: CRF Semintra & sickness.
Boris saw Steve yesterday. It looks like he has either an infection or something sinister in his gut. Steve gave him a steroid injection which should last 5 day which he hopes will settle things down. We've been given anti sickness pills and are to continue with his thyroid and semintra meds too. Once home Boris ate his tea and kept it down. However he's howled all night and has shown no interest in breakfast.
We're to take him back for another check up next Wednesday but I have a feeling we will be going back before that if he doesn't settle down.
Thanks for all your support.

Fingers crossed - I'm surprised he gave steroids rather than antibiotics. Did he do bloods?

Re: CRF Semintra & sickness.
Hi
No bloods have been done this time as tested only a few weeks ago and at that point they were spot on.
Boris has been ill again this morning and I'm now waiting for Steve to call me.
I think Steve decided against antibiotics as the sickness has been only once a week until now which is more indicative of something more sinister.
Boris is finally settled and asleep for the first time since the vets yesterday. I'm exhausted too as I was up with him during the night trying to get him to settle down and stop crying. I'm glad myself and Glen aren't at work this week so we can be here for him.

Re: CRF Semintra & sickness.
After being very sick again overnight Boris is at the vets on a drip ready for an ultrasound later today. Lovely young vet saw us this morning. She feels he has a blocked gut which is more than likely due to cancer. If it is then we won't be bringing our boy home....

It's sad news I'm afraid. Boris was in complete kidney failure and has been put to sleep.
He had almost 19 years with us and we will always think of him with a smile.
