Bella has started to look at me & yawn, she has just come down stairs & sat on the bottom of the stairs, looked at me & yawned 3 times, an anyone tell me why she did this please.

Either she's very relaxed around you or she's bored.

I reckon she's getting more relaxed! Also it's hibernation season - we're ALL yawning here! I'm not sure whether it's a communication thing like blinking - you know how cats love to be blinked at.
What does fascinate me is when they do that open-mouthed thing when smelling something; I think it's called the Flemen response. They have a gland in the roof of their mouth that enables them to get a better whiff of whatever they're smelling - though why they have to sniff another cat's backside and then look at you, open-mouthed, savouring the aroma ...

Cats eh?

Have you noticed that if you look at a yawning cat you feel induced to do the same, but it doesn't work the other way round?
