Cystisis

Post by Kili »

Hi there,

Does anyone know how long it takes to notice a difference in your cat after starting using metacam and cystophan? I’m sure the vet said a couple of days and I don’t want to waste their time if I just need to wait a few more days. He seems a lot happier and isn’t trying to go in the house but is still trying to go in the garden and litter tray a lot without success.

Any advice would be appreciated

I really am not an expert, but my cat had cystitis very recently and it took a whole month to get better. I bugged my vet A LOT as he was in such a lot of pain with the cystitis. I'm pretty sure your vet won't mind you calling them for advice. My cat was given cystophan and painkillers, he was on them for the duration of his symptoms and is now on another dose for a month. I didn't see an immediate improvement on meds and I'm not sure if you would expect to see one, but I would honestly advise you to speak to your vet- mine were so helpful and patient, and he did go back for further checks such as another catheter to check his urine flow etc. As they said it normally clears up quicker, so yours might want to check your cat out some more if he isn't getting better.
My cat is back to normal now, but it seemed like forever while he was ill! Good luck
