Dave....again.

As Dave, my stray cat who I'm taking back to my home soon, is not allowed into my nieces house....I have set up two temporary shelters for him in the back garden. I've made them as cosy as I can with blankets etc (one of the shelters was donated by a kindly neighbour)
However, Dave will not use them no matter how much I try with him. He is constantly yowling at the back door, which I find upsetting, and trying to sneak in via the cat flap, and having to be turfed back out again.
I am feeding him every time I feed the house cats so he is well fed and watered. But how on Earth can I tempt him into the shelters? Any one ever had to do that. Or should I wait until he decides to use them himself?
I'll be glad when I can take the poor mite home with me. That day cannot come quick enough.

One bad winter we had a stray cat hanging around. We were feeding him but he had no shelter, that we knew of. We made him a cosy bed in our old shed. It had a board removed for access. He was use to us feeding him so we tempted him in to the shelter by showing him the food and then placing it just inside the shed door. He soon got the hang of coming and going and would sleep on the pile of old towels we put down for him. He still pops in when he is in the area!
Perhaps bribery is the answer.
