My cat got into a fight

My cat got into a fight with a neighborhood stray, and has a long cut on top of his head. He doesn't react when I apply pressure to it, so it doesn't hurt him to much. There is no swelling and the bleeding has stopped. Should I take him to the vet or is it treatable by rest and disinfecting from home?
PS: he has allergies, that we're still trying to figure out source of, so he has a tendency to scratch his face and head a lot.
